A Bloody Civil War Of Epic Proportions

It will be absolutely fabulous, messy, and entertaining. The best part is Democrats' hands will remain clean.

Yesterday, the Republican cowards in the Senate acquitted the most corrupt Attorney General in America because they were scared. They feared how Tim Dunn would use his vast resources against them, and they bent to pressure from the recipient of Dunn’s $3 million, Dan Patrick. Now, Ken Paxton is back in office, and you can count on him to seek retribution. But ol’ Ken is far from the only player in the Civil War brewing in Texas.

If you missed it, after Paxton was acquitted yesterday, Dan Patrick gave one hell of a speech and essentially declared war on the Texas House. Check it out:

Here are some of my favorite quotes from his self-inflated monologue:

• “We didn’t need to be told in the final arguments how important this vote was.” (A direct shot at Jeff Leach.)

• “In the House, the vote to send the articles of impeachment to the Senate only happened in a few days.” (A direct shot at Andrew Murr.)

• “The Speaker and his team rammed through the first statewide articles of impeachment in almost 100 years.” (A direct shot at Dade Phelan.)

You have to hear it. He didn’t speak of unity. He gave the middle-finger salute to the Speaker of the House and the 121 members of the House who voted to impeach. Dan Patrick drew his line in the sand and declared war with Dade Phelan and the 60 Republican members who voted for impeachment.

To which Dade Phelan replied, “Bring it on, motherfucker.”

Some of the best lines from Phelan’s response include:

• “I find it deeply concerning that weeks after claiming he would preside over the trial in an impartial and honest manner, Lt. Governor Patrick would conclude by confessing his bias and placing his contempt for the people’s House on full display.”

• “The inescapable conclusion is that today’s outcome appears to have been orchestrated from the start, cheating the people of Texas of justice.”

There will be no unity between the House and the Senate anytime soon.

This is excellent news because it brings their far-right, fascist agenda to a screeching halt. Even better, now that Dan Patrick’s stupid gag order has been lifted, we’re hearing from insiders about how the fix for Paxton was in as soon as that $3 million was placed in Dan Patrick’s grubby little hand.

Even funnier is to see on both Twitter and Facebook how the rabid right is attacking the GOP members listed above in their comment sections. Apparently, the only GOP members who are safe are the cowardly Republicans in the Senate who voted for acquittal and the 23

Ironically, some people pushing for the GOP Civil War over the last few months are calling for peace.

In another sense of irony, Cary Cheshire is initially reported to be from Virginia. This got me thinking, so I looked into some of the major players in the GOP Civil War. Check this out:

The two obvious sides of the brewing Civil War have one big glaring difference. One side is originally from Texas. The other side is not.

They’re all Republicans, and they have shit policies, but it would seem at least the Republicans who were born and bread in Texas still believe in the rule of law and accountability. The GOP members who have embraced corruption and cronyism hail from other states or are more widely known as carpetbaggers.

All of this is good news for Democrats.

If State and County Parties play their cards right, there is a lot of messaging to craft from this.

1. The GOP is corrupt beyond repair.

2. The Conservatives that Republicans invited to the state to own the libs are now turning on them. This Civil War is one of their own making.

3. Republicans are incapable of governing in an honest, fair, or transparent way.

We’ll see how it all plays out in the coming months, but you can guarantee it will be bloody, it will be messy, and it will be glorious.
