Yes we are. My body finally quit last Saturday. Refused to get up and go to my second meeting of the day. And reading Michelle's brilliant telling of our inhumanity in Texas made me cry out loud.
Kind of late reading this because I didn't have the time to give it that it deserved. This piece is why I love history. There is a pattern to people's behavior and there is a very interesting phenomenon where the character of a place gets ingrained and continues. It's fascinating how ruthless and brazen the autocratic streak is in Texas. Yet, there is also a very deep streak in Texas of pragmatic populism.
We are seeing these two Texas characteristics rising against each other in this election. I'm on the side of pragmatic populism.
40 days can’t come fast enough. I am exhausted.

Take care of yourself. One day at a time.
💙 Thank you so much Veda!
💙 Thank you for all you do and you do a lot!!
Great piece. Never knew that Texas has a bill of rights. Section 3a says "equality under the law shall not be denied because of sex.."
