This is the first election I’ve had your analysis, and it has made me a better voter.
Thanks to you I can tell my friends across Texas about their primary candidates. I’ve forwarded dozens of your district specific essays selectively to help my friends choose their best candidate.
LoneStarLeft is such a great tool!
Thank you for your labor of love. I know it’s exhausting.
Don’t worry about the haters- we’ll drive them back into the dark corners again real soon💪
Thank you 💙 And yes, I believe that. I had a small spat with an influencer in 2024, really not a big deal, but after that, they moved on to Republican politics. I expect many of the current batch to move on as well.
The early voting numbers show that people are straight-up LIT about what's going on. I expect the same results elsewhere in the country as well.
As far as the vitriol for the Senate primary goes, I think you would do well to post regularly a political PSA for all Democrats using the commercial airline pilot metaphor I suggested before. People have got to get past this "fall in love with a candidate" mentality and be more hard headed about the stakes involved. And for God's sake, get people to get off social media as their primary source of news as well.
I agree. No body knows who to trust and someone who they trust is intentionally dishonest. We live in such a strange era when it comes to information, it’s so readily available, but so few people seek it out.
I had someone I trust reach out and say I shouldn’t trust you because you are spreading misinformation! Ugh! I have really appreciated your analysis and I hate that like you said - someone I trust is wrong here. So I’m just gonna hold it all loosely and wanted to let you know how much I appreciate you publishing this article as your addressing the issue in an open and level headed manner - affirmed why I continue to appreciate your insight. I need to trust folks like you as I don’t have the capacity to constantly research all the pacs and who they are employing and paying.
That doesn’t surprise me, knowing some of the stuff I’ve faced the last few weeks. I’ve always provided sources and receipts and walk through all my analysis. I think that’s why most readers have been around for so many years. Funny thing is I haven’t lost any subscribers. 🤷🏻♀️
Some people are mad that they got caught lying and are deflecting the only way they know how.
Many people "think" emotionally. They let their emotions determine how they assess what's true. Unfortunately, that's precisely the wrong way to make level-headed decisions and to think long-term about what's truly important.
Oh, I agree so much with you. I had a friend describe the two Senate candidates like this. “ imagine two of your children running for Senate and you can’t figure out which one to vote for.” That friend must have read my mind. Like you; I will vote for whoever wins in the General! We all need to vote for whatever Democratic Party Candidate wins for EVERY seat. 🙏🏼 I beg Democratic Party voters to not to fight or allow the GOP to win because your candidate didn’t win the primary. VOTE!
I think the insight about social media and civic engagement is really important. Civic knowledge and understanding of government is abysmal. This is primarily because of social media, cable news and national party narratives. The average voter in Texas does not comprehend that we have dual sovereigns. As I door knock, all people seem to know is the president and a little bit about Congress. That's it. They aren't quite latching on to state, city and county elections as just as important, if not more so than federal elections. You have to explain what a primary is.
I really believe that people today are so steeped in the unconstructive ways of social media they think all there is to politics is just going online and trash talking your opponents. They seem to think these pointless and insane arguments are achieving something. What social media actually does is transport the vital issues into a manipulated algorithm-driven simulation which does not have the country's best interest at heart.
Education about what and how government actually works is imperative right now. If schools in Texas won't do it, then I see no reason the state and county parties can’t put basic civic explainers out in a neutral, fact-based manner. I think we build credibility as a party when the Texas Democratic Party tells people the truth about government in contrast to Republicans. Too much online drama leads to political nihilism and cynicism. Voters need to see they have power and can do real things in the real world.
When we flip this state, we need to make sure our school do better. For sure. I saw someone yesterday angry that the senate candidates were running against each other and not republicans. 🤦🏻♀️
The SOS numbers surprise me, TBH. The Dem lead in Dallas County seems much larger, and I would suspect that in the other huge counties. Do rural areas truly dampen that much?
Well, like for Montgomery Dems were at like 2,300, and the GOP was at about 8,200. In McLennon, the GOP was double the Dems. So, I would say so, especially in the redder counties.
Well, I just looked at Dallas County mail-ins received thus far: D 884, R 639. Again, I don't know what any of this means, I realize that Ds supposedly vote by mail and early more frequently, but I'm encouraged by the numbers.
I cannot believe you were at the Arlington Rally. I was volunteering at UTA earlier and also at the evening event. PoweredxPeople has no equal in voter registration and turnout at the polls, but most of that is true because Beto really has no equal. James Talerico has been my candidate but like you I really like Jasmine and her staff. I had to step back a bit because of social media also and not favor either one. For all the candidates I will be glad when the primary is over. We have stellar candidates and I am proud of them all for stepping up.

We’re going to blow them out of the water.

Haha, I stopped by UTA earlier too to chat with Beto. You probably saw me and didn’t realize it. I was talking to Darrell.
Well next time you should go around announcing anyone here want to see Michelle!!!
🤣🤣🤣
