If you are the type to be offended by curse words, bad words, or any specific four-letter words, I STONGLY SUGGEST you don’t read any further. We’ll be back to our regularly scheduled programming tomorrow.
Yesterday morning, on both Twitter and Bluesky, and presumably other social media platforms (I didn’t look), the Editor-in-Chief of MeidasTouch.com said, “The people of Texas voted for government services controlled by Donald Trump and Greg Abbott. This is exactly what they getting.”
As of writing this, 28 children are dead, children who will never know what it means to grow up, to cast a ballot, to have a voice in the country that failed them. And you, Ron Filipkowski, have the gall to sneer at the dead. You’re not critiquing a state. You’re spitting on the graves of babies.
So fuck you for that.
Not to mention that in Texas, our state’s population is 31.29 million, only 6.39 million people voted for Trump. So don’t you dare blame “Texas” for this. You’re not condemning a red state. You’re scapegoating 25 million people, including the dead, the grieving, the too-young-to-vote, and the rest of us who’ve been fighting like hell to change things. It’s lazy, it’s cruel, and it lets the people responsible for gutting climate policy and disaster preparedness slip by without a scratch.
A summer camp of children are dead, so fuck you to Ron Filipkowski and any other blue state liberal who somehow suggests that Texas deserves this. Have you no damn fucking shame?
The truth about Texas.
There isn’t one person in Texas who isn’t grieving right now, regardless of political affiliation, religious background, or socioeconomic status. Parents are identifying bodies. Volunteers are digging out the wreckage where summer cabins once stood.
There are children still missing.
This is not the time for smug detachment or clever tweets. This is a time for mourning, and across the state, Texans are coming together to support one another.
We always do. That’s Texas. That’s who we are.
The same heartless, sanctimonious, and privileged blue state liberals, like Ron Filipkowski, would tell us to “vote better,” as if voter suppression doesn’t exist, as if gerrymandering isn’t real, as if we haven’t been fighting tooth and nail for every inch of progress in this state.
Let’s talk about voting in Texas.
First, you have to register to vote. You can’t do it online. Most people register when they get or renew their driver’s license. However, to obtain your driver’s license in Texas, you must schedule an appointment online. This process can take up to six months, and in some areas of Texas, driver’s license offices may be located as far as an hour away. That’s probably part of the reason why 17% of Texas adults don’t have driver’s licenses.
You can find a government webpage to print a voter application. Once you print it out, you can mail it in and hope it gets there. Not to mention that large swaths of Texas still don’t have access to high-speed internet.
Of course, if you miss two consecutive elections in Texas, you are on the “Suspense” list. Republicans named it “Suspense” because when most people find out they’re on the “Suspense” list, they erroneously think their voter registration is “suspended,” so they stop voting altogether or for a while. You can vote while you’re on the “Suspense” list, but no one tells you this. Voters are just expected to know it intuitively.
Has MeidasTouch.com ever given a shit about how difficult it was even to register to vote in Texas? If not, fuck you Ron Filipkowski.
What about how the Republican Party redrew the maps down here to drown out the Black and brown voice, to depress the vote, and how the federal judiciary let them do it?
This state wasn’t handed to the right wing by its people. It was stolen, rigged, and gerrymandered into submission.
Was there as much outrage over that as there was when you had the chance to dunk on grieving Texans for clicks?
Fuck you, Ron Filipkowski.
That’s not even counting the generational trauma in Deep East and South Texas, where Black and brown communities were blocked from voting for a century and where many still don’t, in towns that still honor the Confederacy.
No, we haven’t solved generational trauma. So, fuck you, Ron Filipkowski.
And fuck every blue state Democrat cheering you on.
I said it before, I’ll say it again. They’re not like us. While we are grieving and mourning with our neighbors and our state, they are mocking us, writing us off, and blaming the very people trying to dig ourselves out.
A state doesn’t deserve to drown. Children don’t deserve to die because the wrong people hold power. And if you think otherwise and if your first instinct is blame, not compassion, then you are not part of the solution. You are part of the sickness. Kindly, go fuck yourself.

I’m really getting tired of the blame being directed at “red states”. A state doesn’t vote-PEOPLE vote and then we all share in whatever policies the majority voted for. But blaming everyone in any red state is just another division in a time we need to be uniting.
I’m also good and sick of all the comments that blue states should just succeed and leave the red states to their fate. I’m fighting as hard as I can every day for the entire US! But it seems those in blue states don’t believe Texas or other states that went red in terms of electoral college votes deserve the same.
Sorry, I’m venting! But I’m tired of division-the Republicans play that game-we don’t need to join them.
The total death toll (including adults) was at 70 a few hours ago. 11 of the little girls from the camp are still missing but the total number missing is 51…the little campers are getting the majority of the press but this is devastating even more families beyond them. 💔
Yes I’m angry (have been all along) about cuts made by DOGE & Pete Hegseth’s decision to stop sharing microwave satellite weather info…but right now it’s time to love and support OUR families in OUR state without asking who they voted for.
