Came here to say I personally endorse Daniel Wang because he shows up before it’s politically convenient.

A product of Austin public schools, with a math degree from MIT and a law degree from Harvard Law, Daniel could have pursued a more lucrative path in a larger city. Instead, he chose to come home and serve.

He stepped in at the last moment to run for the unpaid Travis Central Appraisal District Board when it became clear that Texas Republicans were trying to manipulate those newly elected seats, with real consequences for public school funding through systematic property undervaluation.

Now Daniel is helping lead the Appraisal Board’s challenge to Elon Musk’s massive $1.2 billion reduction in the Tesla Gigafactory’s taxable value. He believes fairness shouldn’t depend on how powerful you are.

On a personal level, Daniel treats everyone with respect, listens carefully, and keeps his word. That combination of integrity and backbone is exactly what HD49 needs.

What Daniel means for Texans: Smart, principled leadership that challenges power and fights for working people.

Travis County is a Democratic oasis. The Republicans are running no candidates in the county (for either county offices like commissioners or any of the judgeships). The only exception is in four of the six(seven) House Districts. Interestingly, this being Gina Hinohosa's open seat, you'd expect one to try - but no filing. They concede the district to the Democrats.

There will be numerous forums for HD-49 in January and July (Netco has one end of January, CAPTCHA is trying to form one on Feburary 7). Those interested, keep you ears open for them.
