Abbott was previously attacking Talarico instead of campaigning on his own behalf. I suppose he's backtracking and campaigning for himself now because it turns out people won't vote for someone who governs in a manner hostile to their best interest. But, unless he calls a special session and turns these pronouncements into legislation, I think it's too late. Rural Texans are pissed. I mean, data centers? You just do not mess with a West Texan's water.

There isn't time to call a special session without taking out of precious campaign time.

Ah ha! Which explains why he’s doing this now. 🤷

It is election year, only 100 days to go so he is adopting the Big John playbook since Big John is now little John. So he is acting like a Democrat! If you didn’t know well. Which we do! So let’s call him out!

I have only skimmed this article but being an old Star Trek fan, it sounds like this Abbott has been replaced by his mirror universe counterpart. He just needs to add the goatee to complete the look and we're good to go!

Classic Michelle.

What needs to happen for Gina Hinojosa to win this?

Voters need to show up. Voters need to not believe Abbott's flip-flops.

Well yes. People reacted strongly to Abbott’s flip-flops this week. People hate data centers and hate AI. People hate ICE enough for Abbott to enlist the Texas Rangers to investigate. Imagine if the Texas Rangers’ investigation comes back to bite Abbott who aligns with ICE white supremacists and MAGA supporters of these public lynchings. People hate the lack of affordability for which Abbott had to flip-flop. People hate that Texas’ educational outcomes are so poor. People hate that Abbott CNBC ranked Texas number 49 for quality of life. Texas has been hung out to dry by the Abbott, Paxton, Patrick cabal of Loserdom.

I assume people will turn out in November. Abbott cannot undo 30 years of corruption and decline in 100 days. Despite this, people ask “who is Gina Hinojosa?” “Why is she not out there?” This is obviously a false perception but it implies Gina Hinojosa is unknown to most Texans, that’s a serious problem when voters simply vote for the name they recognize, which I’m certain is a size-able number.

Thanks, Michelle, lol!!! Just shared on bsky. Hey-- did you see Wilonsky's art column in the DMN this morning or perhaps earlier? It shows photos of the pod sculptures that a guy rescued from downtown because he loves pod people, & stored them, but recently had to give them up. They're beautiful!!! REALLY!

After a lot of public pressure, the Houston Chief of Police, at the request of Mayor Whitmire made a formal request to DPS for the Texas Rangers to investigate. Apparently you need to put a request in writing to get state assistance. I wouldn't credit this to the benevolence of Governor Abbott.
