Michelle, I was so upset way before you said don’t get upset. EVERYONE in TEXAS needs to READ this and all the other articles you wrote about this topic. Will they (TEXANS) vote for their best interest? 😭

What else can I do so that everyone in Texas reads your articles? Especially the Republican voters. 🤬

Haha. You’re my biggest cheerleader, Eva. 🫶🏻 I think the Republicans are a lost cause. I gave up worrying about them years ago. People just don’t care so much, I think, not unless it impacts them. I got lost in a rabbit hole one day on TikTok with ex-MAGA, and they were all talking to one another about how they grew up in the Evangelical Church, and no one ever taught them empathy. While I grew up in a ministry that wasn’t Evangelical, I was floored by what I was hearing. I had to call my mom and thank her for teaching me empathy. 😂 And as a mother myself, I’m horrified that there are people out there raising children and not teaching them to empathize with others. I just put it out into the world and hope somebody is listening. And at least I know you are. 💙

I don’t know where I got my empathy from. I can’t say my Mom because she use to get upset with me m, when I told her I cared. You were lucky to have a Mother who had empathy. I noticed that my husband has about the same amount of empathy as my Mom did. 🤦🏽‍♀️ My whole life I have wanted “Justice FOR ALL!” 💙

From what I can tell listening to ex-evangelical cult members, they are taught that they don't need to care about other people because that is the role of God. They are supposed to just accept what happens to them, not have independent judgement, and trust that if bad things happen to other people, it's because God is punishing them, or they are not as deserving. They are taught that they are superior and more deserving, and that those outside the cult are evil and potentially dangerous. This is not Christianity; the Bible is full of warnings against false prophets, the greedy, those who would mix up the power of God with the power of a KIng, those who don't welcome the stranger, or help the poor. They don't follow any of that.

And not only do they walk among us, they lead our government. 😭

Yep. See, e.g. Tim Dunn and Faris Wilkes.

Thanks you for another depressing piece on how Texans get screwed. This time leading up to the runoff seems interminable!!! People REALLY do need this info. I hope we're helping.

Thanks for informing us about another horrible data center deal.

All these data centers aren't necessary. If you want to use AI, local AI models will soon be viable. Local AI models can run on your own computer and don't need servers or data centers. Currently they aren't as capable as the leading edge AI and require pretty powerful computers. But improvements are happening quickly with new local models every week. If a fraction of the money being invested in data centers was spent on local model development, we could probably end the need for all these new data centers.

Data center guys brag about how their power generation is off the grid. Sure, it's off the electrical grid but it's still tied into the natural gas pipelines. It's still using up all our shared resources so those of us further down the line have to pay more.
