You are preaching to the choir here. Everyone who subscribes to your newsletter understands this. The problem again is that out of touch activists and consultants are focusing on issues that are important to THEM, not to voters. I bet also that since their personal economic situations are relatively good, basic and raw economic challenges simply don't show up on their radars.

I believe the key for Democratic success in Texas and nationally is getting more people like you in positions of operational power. The challenge is breaking the grip of the consultant class that's now in control. Doing this has been in the way especially since 2012 but it's imperative now. I don't have any answers here but I am clear about what's going on and what needs to be done.

I have excellent advice for our new Chair....don't go on listening tours or reorganize or move HQ.

Simply listen to wMD and do what she says...............................you'll go down as the best Chair ever

I admire former State Senate candidate Karthik Soora for his attempt to galvanize Texas Democrats to focus on pocketbook issues. I think he is right. However, when it comes down to specific proposals, some of his suggestions are as out-of-touch as our GOP friends.

For instance, how is completing a multi-billion dollar high speed rail network joining Houston, D/FW, Austin and San Antonio going to reduce the cost of living for a family from Houston's Fifth Ward whose breadwinners are working at Walmart and the post office?

How are legalizing weed and gambling supposed to lover the burdensome sales tax rate (6.25%,up to 8.25% based on local options) on Texas families? For that matter, how are legalizing weed and gambling supposed to do ANYTHING to the cost of living?

Mr. Soora proposes that we "LET cities legalize duplexes, ADUs, and small lot homes." Since most large Texas cities are controlled by Democratic mayors and city councils, how about we DEMAND that cities make these housing reforms? Then we'll see how housing politics works at the city level.

Thanks, Mr. Soora. You're on the right track. Stay focused.

You are so right! The TDP Platform is entirely too long and too complicated. Your bullet points are perfect. It's time to focus on what affects the most people and stop adding every little thing that comes up for the few. We believe in equal rights for all humans. Full stop. We have to learn to stay in our lane and allow other organizations to take the lead on other things sometimes.

one of our indomitable Dems, Sabrina Ball, was casing out a location for FTW's 'Hands Off' rally ...we didn't have one yesterday cause of course.......................

anywho she noticed MY MAGA congressman had his district office fortified, walled off, inaccessible to his constituency behind the Preatorian Guard of the Fort Worth Club.......Those on the outstide Mr. Goldman, always stride to be on the inside...behind those walls. The WASP's ain't gonna let u in and any significant way.

the unintended consequences for Mr. Goldman...his office will be rite across the street from a planned Hands Off FTW rally.

We must expand Medicaid in Texas. Then on the federal level, cover all children in the US via CHIP on a sliding scale if you don’t have insurance like the ACA but cheaper, for all children until age 26. Then lower the Medicare age to 55. So now we have covered age 26-55, expanded Medicaid coverage and more subsidies for the ACA. Then it isn’t that hard to eventually cover all from 27-54.
