This was my first convention. I think I chose a good one to attend. The mood was "just right" in my opinion. There was optimism, but a realistic optimism. No one seemed to gloss over the challenge of organizing and executing in real life. Ken Martin didn't show up in person. There was a very fast glimpse of him speaking in one of the videos on screen. I don't know what the story is there. I thought he was on the list of speakers, not that I thought that was a good idea. I agree that the people seemed pleased with the convention. There was an awesome conga line down on the floor prior to Bernie appearing. It was kind of amazing, given the average age of the participants. Bernie was treated like a rock star. In fact, the whole thing seemed to be a throwback to the seventies. My ears are still ringing like I was at a concert.

The curiosity of Republicans about the Democratic candidates and messages was implied and sometimes outright stated. And it explains Abbott's desperately trying to "rain" on our parade with his juvenile stunts. Most people, myself included never even noticed it happening. There were three former Republicans who came out and introduced nominees, most notably to me, the Trump-appointed former DOJ attorney who managed the impeachment evidence against Paxton. She denounced Paxton with righteous indignation. Paxton can run, but he cannot hide.

Because I was supposed to go; I got on a group chat that I tried to get off but for some reason; it only worked for my iPhone. Not the iWatch.

So, their text were coming in on the watch. It seems like my friend did enjoy it, the do seem energized, and ready to get out the vote. Thank God they were HAPPY to see Kendall win! 😅 I wasn’t sure until I saw it on their text. I am pleased with CD35 SDEC members. I’m happy to see all the Bexar County winners. I enjoyed this convention from afar. Someone asked me when will the 2028 be? When do they announce that? I hope I make it to that one. 😁

No minority report from Resolutions per the chair Jazz— it required 20% of the total roll of the committee, not just of members present at a meeting

Endorsed by the Progressive Caucus and you, and Mothers Against Greg Abbott as well the Young Dems. Wow, I am exhausted and you know I was nervous to the last minute. But we re elected Kendall. And Ellis County Vice Chair Rob Shelton was elected. Even our CD6 nominee said, “Liza, you looked like you were about to be sick” in the hall, just minutes before for the results were finally announced. We are all exhausted! But we had a huge family dinner with our Ellis Dems joined by several other delegates from our CD. It is family. I know for myself there were bid progressive wins. But Myra’s secretary win and Chris Serven’s Hispanic Caucus win were probably the most significant to me aside from Rob and Kendall. This to me is about building the next generation!

i helped a friend write a few resolutions for the county conventions and reached out to like-minded people to get them passed elsewhere. with few existing political connections we managed to bring some to the state level. although not everything made it, i still noticed that one of the resolutions was basically untouched from the version we submitted (with committee amendments that in my opinion actually strengthened it). i can't express enough not only how glad i am to have helped set the course of the texas democratic party but also how empowering it feels to see verbiage i wrote in the resolutions the party has adopted. let's keep it going these next 2 years!
