Thanks for the education on what exactly does an agricultural commissioner do for Texas! This is the first time I have read about it. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

I became a Clayton Tucker supporter when he first announced his candidacy, for all the reasons you mentioned.

The current commissoner, Sid Miller, has to be the worst, divisive poster on social media I've ever seen. I swore his posts were bot generated, coming out every few minutes.

I love the anti-monopoly perspective, I almost thought this post came from another publication I follow https://www.thebignewsletter.com/

I'll send it to him!

I have learned so much from him! Two things I learned from the Rep. Rev. John Bryant (yes, I wrote that correctly. On Sunday First United Methodist Church of Dallas voted to recommend Rep. John Bryant to be appointed as a Methodist Minister. If you ever think you are too old, think again. My spiritual and political advisor, my law mentor, his on his 4th career- first lawyer, then congressman, then called to serve again in 2018 in the Texas House to mentor all the Democrat Fighters. Ask, Julie Johnson, she will tell you that it was John who helped them all. Ok, and then! Went back to school and got a masters of divinity. I served on his committee and even though the rules said that ministers have mandatory retirement, I said, but the Church needs you John! The denomination had just split over gay marriage. Ok, my ADHD at work again). Well, many have now heard my origin story of being a nominee for National Delegate in June of 2024. I knew nothing of party politics or even the workings of the party for that matter. I knew Julie Johnson as a fellow lawyer, and Lupe Valdez because back in 2004 when she and I were the only ones hanging around democratic judicial fundraisers. So John, my spiritual mentor for church, who I had known only as my teacher, took me under his wing again. The first person he introduced me to was Kendall Scudder, and told me to stay close and learn from him because he would be the next chair of the Texas Democratic Party. Obviously there is the story you hear every time I introduce Chair Scudder at an event. Well the second thing he told me was, become a dues paying member of the Progressive caucus. That caught me off guard. John and I agreed on just about everything but I hardly considered my politics progressive (ok, knock me on oil and gas and please please donโ€™t make me talk about DART). So I did what he said. As luck would have it, me, Kendall and an amazing woman named Angel Smith sat together the entire convention. She became my closest friend from Chicago. So after the election and I leaned no one was doing shit in Irving, which was then confirmed in our May Elections, and it became clear that our SDEC rep wanted nothing to do with Kendallโ€™s amazing leadership, I invited the Progressive Caucus to send a speaker to Irving Democrats. Well, letโ€™s just say that did not go over well, with anyone else on the Board. But that is when I met both Clayton and Kristi Lara in person. Kristi was fresh off her city council wins Harker Heights and Clayton was on the cusp of formally announcing his race. So a speaking gig in a city of 250,000 in North Texas was attractive. Well, the rest is history. I ran a 100% runoff campaign for our city council at large runoff. And we won. And that is how I learned I am a Texas Progressive and what that means. Once Clayton announced he had to resign his long held position as President of the caucus and we voted to rename the position โ€œChairโ€. Then we elected my dear friend Angel Smith to that position.

So listen up, Rep. John Bryant is a gift from God. He has put people together that are making the next generation of Democratic politics finally happen!
