Lone Star Left's 2026 TDP Officer And SDEC Endorsements
Who does the work when nobody's watching.
Before we get into it, there is something I want to make sure I put out into the world because I don’t think everyone knows it. Planning and decision-making for the Texas Democratic Convention are made by a committee called the Convention Committee. They were elected through the SDEC last year, or the year before (I don’t even know), and have been planning the 2026 Convention since.
That’s important for people to know because, as we head into the convention this week, if anything goes wrong (hopefully it won’t), there will be finger-pointing. There’s always finger-pointing. One year, I remember, they ran out of food for all the people who signed up for that expensive-ass breakfast, and many didn’t get to eat. For both of the last two Conventions, there wasn’t a quorum when it was time to vote on the platform. So, shit always seems to happen.
Maybe this year will be better. But everyone should know that these things are planned via the Convention Committee, and fuck-ups are usually on them. So, if we see anyone raging on social media at Kendall Scudder, an elected official, or Corpus Christi for anything that might go wrong, know that rage will be ill-placed.
Lone Star Left’s endorsements for Texas Democratic Party State officers:
Previous:
Per the bylaws, the Vice Chair for Finance shall be responsible for fundraising under the direction of the State Chair and shall have other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Chair or the SDEC.
Vice Chair for Finance: Iro Omere
I’m hoping this gets updated at the convention because, according to the bylaws, “The Secretary shall have the duties and authority implied by such title.” Yeah, that’s it.
Secretary: Myra Mills Tschirhart
The Treasurer’s duties shall be to present a financial report at each SDEC meeting and to perform duties assigned by the State Chair. The disbursement of funds shall be the responsibility of the State Chair or of the Chair’s designee(s), provided that the SDEC approves the designee(s).
Treasurer: Savant Moore
Lone Star Left’s endorsements for the Texas Democratic Party State Democratic Executive Committee (SDEC):
It’s important to understand who the SDEC is and what they do, and why these people are an important function of the Texas Democratic Party:
SDEC members are supposed to actively promote the platform, the nominees, and straight-ticket voting. They liaise with County Chairs and help run primaries and conventions. They show up: Congressional District meetings, County Executive Committee meetings, local club meetings, TDP trainings, and committee calls. They help build Party messaging, recruit and train candidates, and keep tabs on every public office holder in their district. They’re expected to help fundraise, know Robert’s Rules and the TDP Rules cold, and be reachable by the public. And they pay their own way to SDEC meetings unless they raise the money to cover it.

These are the people who decide whether the TDP shows up in your county or forgets it exists.
Lone Star Left’s endorsements for thesepositions reflect that. The convention’s in a few days. Vote like it matters, because it does.

I’m embarrassed to admit I didn’t even realize Texas had a democratic convention until very recently. I can’t wait to hear your updates.
Let’s get to work! I have leaned so much from Michelle the last two years.
