Brought tears to my eyes. Following Beto's advice long ago that said "Do you want to wake up the day after the election and say I could have done more" I became more active than ever. People can always do more than they think they can. And we CAN each ask one person to register, or five people to vote, or drive a neighbor to participate in a meeting. At the very least contribute however many dollars you can every month to these groups. And above all, be kind.

Yes, we need to turn non-voters into voters, and voters into activists. Then, maybe we'll cross that big blue hump.

Just to be clear i have proposed a dozen free things to do just that to TCDP.....they told me to piss off....Allison our soon to be Chair is going on a listening tour.....like she wasn't chair just 2 years ago or just jetted in after sabbatical in south of France

we are doomed Texas, cause without Tarrant County we will never win back Texas

PSS Dear LSL readers......the last time MD wrote an article critical of Allison Campolo, the Chair, and TCDP, she , being Allison up and QUIT.

Now, like Jason...she's back

Texas is doomed.

Only 27% of eligible voters chose Trump—but it wasn’t just apathy that kept the rest home. It was exhaustion, disillusionment, and a system designed to keep people out.

Purges, ID laws, gerrymanders, polling place closures—Texas doesn’t just suppress votes, it suppresses hope. And they count on that.

But here’s the part they can’t gerrymander: us talking to each other. Us showing up. Us making sure our friends, neighbors, and coworkers are registered, informed, and angry enough to cast a ballot like it’s a life raft—because it is.

They know we outnumber them. That’s why they’re afraid. Let’s make them right.

i keep posting this...it was MD;s original idea some month ago............at least in TC and FTW....we don't engage one single Hispanic and that's about 175,000 voters.....we don't engage them, in fact we ignore them

they gerrymander cause we don't engage voters so that they are unaware how politics effects there lives..or what they can do about it

Yes, I do and tell them. They must continue what I do… because everyone is replaceable. I want them to learn from me so that they will take over. They probably do it better.

I want to be more like James Talarico. He NEVER shows his hand...he is calm, cool, and stays on track with his questioning. He never gets ruffled.

Hey Michelle, I'd love to post this in Spanish. We need more bilingual media.

Hola Michelle, me encantaría publicar esto en español. Necesitamos más medios bilingües.

I am one of those exhausted organizers. I had to step down from leading the Rio Grande Valley Mothers for Democracy (AKA Mothers Against Greg Abbott). The people now running it are doing an incredible job (they were my leadership team). I just could not do anymore organizing, my health was suffering. But I was able to build a large infrastructure of volunteers that did not exist before. I was able to build a community of activists- a place for people to come in and have things to do.

The one thing missing now is Spanish media that is not tainted by MAGA. Your posts are incredibly informative. I'd love for your work to be in Spanish so I can share.

My former fellow principal and I want to start an education-related podcast but I don't think we have the energy and we definitely don't have the know-how. We've checked a few websites and books, but it's daunting.

EVERY 👏 WORD 👏of 👏THIS❣️👏👏👏❣️

Michelle, you are such a gift. Thank you.

One thing I’d add… (because when you’re a hammer, everything looks like a nail!) … to that list of what to join, you must add YOUR LOCAL DEMOCRATIC / PROGRESSIVE CLUB!! We are the place for community to be included, informed, empowered and we organize with all those bigger orgs to ELECT Democrats up and down the ballot!! If there isn’t a local club, Start One! It’s a LOT of work, but my god it can make a Difference. If you are in the Richardson area, check out RAD.vote.

But back to the article, this is the best you’ve written, and that’s saying A LOT. 🙏🏻

Absolutely, Ginny. Some clubs do more than others but we find repeatedly that people are thrilled to know there is a group for them when they thought they were alone. You add so much to our community I am grateful.

I was at Austin's protest last evening. It was positive, motivating, and peaceful at the capital. On the street, however, things were a little more contentious. I'm not sure what was happening, but all ended well. It just occurred to me that we should have had voter registration tents set up. People are motivated and getting them registered is the next important step, just in case they aren't. Getting them to show up is the next big thing.

just so i heard ur correct....join ur county party?....have u read anything i have printed......at least TCDP is useless, and proved it today in not even acknowledging NO KINGS...when ever u speak of county political parties be sure to bracket the biggest red party is the USA as totally useless.

other than that excellent article

Tim--the current chair of TCDP spoke at Austin's rally last evening. The party MUST become more strategic in their organizing efforts, but why did you say TCDP is "useless"?

Nice try, Governor Abbott. Despite the news the Texas Capitol and its grounds had been evacuated and closed because of a "credible threat" in advance of the protest, estimates 50501 are that 20,000 showed up for No Kings Day in Austin, TX. And, yes, we were allowed on the Capitol grounds. There was music, singing grannies, speeches, great signs, and a drag performance.-mcgerrie mcall 50501

Neither is TCDP....Its a pretty bog standard Democratic event and press could find no bog standard Democrat in a crowd of 2000.
