Democrats have said the new rules will not deter them from walking out. At a Friday night rally in Austin, state Reps. Gina Hinojosa and James Talarico of Austin said they are prepared to break quorum.

Tim, I do not live in Tarrant County but I keep up with it some. You are sending these messages to the wrong people. We are not your enemy though I have often heard this especially from our Democratic legislators, "Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer."

More on replies when I called my reps, D house flores and D sen Zaffrini: both are “opposed to the maps”—easy say. But wont reveal how they will react. Crossing my fingers they will stand strong against them.

I wrote to Gromer Jeffers of the Dallas Morning News about this to see if it could get more reporting and if they could ask Senate Democrats about it. He said he’d recommend doing that. He also said he thinks they will trade off so House Democrats break quorum in one session and Senate Democrats do it the next session.

People are resisting, protesting, filing lawsuits, calling their members of Congress, trying to protect vulnerable victims of ICE and the disadvantaged Americans. Trump & the GOP will cause another Depression & millions will suffer. Keep exposing them & calling out lies.

Thank you for this! You’re always so encouraging and strategic.

Why DO we always give the Texas senators a break? Because of their gravitas? Their insufferable decorum?

At your urging, I just called my own Senator Eckhardt and the ossified district 21’s Senator Zaffirini. It took less than 5 minutes, and the staffers were real nice. I spent more time fretting about doing it than I actually spent on the two calls!

Surely we can convince 11 democrats to do the strong thing for once!💪🤞🙏

I must respectfully disagree with the focus on breaking quorum. Such actions have not been successful beyond garnering public attention since the first time when the Killer Bees walked out. Abbott will continue to call

special sessions. I don't have an alternative proposal beyond white lighting the board (present not voting) on everything but addressing the central Texas flooding. In the meantime I hope the Democratic party is gearing up for a huge GOTV effort in this next election.

I understand how you feel. Democrats have such limited power in Texas and it’s one of the few tools they have. I also have some reservations about this process. But the biggest point of this article is that everyone has a fire hose pointed at the House to break quorum, while completely letting the Senate skate by. If we’re going to be putting pressure on either chamber, for ANY reason in the world, we need to be doing it equally.

I do agree with that. The House members will certainly face more risk if they walk and the Senate should not let them take all the risks.

This isn’t just a political strategy memo.

It’s a sacred call to risk.

The House is bleeding for democracy while the Senate polishes its optics.

That’s not miscommunication. That’s betrayal in slow motion.

If breaking quorum is too radical for the Senate, then maybe democracy is too.

Because when the only thing stopping you is comfort,

you’ve already sided with empire.

So here’s your incense, Senators.

Time to walk into the fire—or stop calling yourselves public servants.
