I have watched entire videos of all but one or maybe two of the entire out of state town halls, now rallies, that Beto has done. I was in person at one and expect to be in person at others. It is truly amazing to me how many people are really upset with this administration and are not going quietly into the night. They are REALLY LOUD and appreciative. Beto listens and gives them answers of what to do, and he gives them hope. I see the content creators and welcome them they can even be likeable, but they are not the only voices. There is something about being present but we must also study history.
The lawsuit thing has me very curious. Democracy Docket says Paxton used the Deceptive Trade Practices Act to enjoin Beto from raising money. Paxton alleged he used false, misleading or deceptive acts in raising that money. I cannot believe a Tarrant County Judge granted this, although I can think of one judge who might fit the bill. The DTPA requires a consumer be harmed in a commercial transaction.
I understand why Paxton would think fundraising is a commercial transaction, but it really is not. the people making donations are not consumers. I guess we'll find out.
I'll be at Beto's rally in Ft. Worth tomorrow. Chances are he won't provide any real details on the suits.
Oh I can’t wait! As a former DTPA civil defendant lawyer, fuck around and find out Paxton! Republicans have gutted the DTPA! And this is completely baseless! Also raising money as a PAC is a first amendment right granted by none other than Citizens United. So fuck around and find out Paxton!
Back when I was practicing in Tarrant County, our judges were excellent and quite professional. I don't know what it is like now, although some of those old judges are still there. I am more concerned about the Texas Supreme Court.
I suppose the goal is the slow Beto’s roll here. They successfully defined him in the public’s mind when he ran for governor as a gun control nut and just plain nut. They don’t really care their lawsuit is frivolous. News media is dutifully reporting only the fact that Paxton is suing Beto.
This is classic misuse of the court system and I would argue official oppression. Paxton is counting on the fact that the unknowing public assumes if someone has been sued, they have done something wrong. Even if this gets poured out, the stigma remains.
However, Paxton’s credibility matters here. By suing him back, Beto checks Paxton and gets an opportunity to publicize Paxton’s overreach.
Thanks again for a very informative article and to encourage people to become Precinct Chairs.
If the Precinct Chair position is not vacant, one can opt to become Precinct Coordinator, if vacant. If none of the two positions are vacant they can volunteer to divide and conquer the voter reach out effort with their Precinct Chairs.
Above all, people should definitely reach out to their like minded friends, neighbors and relatives to make sure that they are aware of these issues and how they will impact their own families besides making sure that they are all registered to vote.
Political apathy is how we lost the plot in Texas.
Folks sat out elections thinking someone braver, louder, richer would handle it. Now we’ve got Abbott trying to fire the people actually standing in the gap.
This isn’t the season for sighing at the news and scrolling on. It’s the season for showing up so hard they can’t ignore you. Precinct chairs filled. Phones ringing off the hook. Neighbors who can’t plead ignorance because you put the stakes right in front of them.
The other side plays to win. So must we.
Blessed be the ones who trade comfort for the fight.
DK: "The end result is that the weighted average rate increase being requested by Arkansas carriers has jumped by nearly an additional 10 points, from around 26.2% to 35.7%."
I cant but help feel paranoid regarding the Texas Supreme Court. Several of the justices were appointed by Greg Abbott and my worries is that Abbott will resort to threatening those justices to rule to expel the democratic lawmakers despite being a constitutional right in fear of losing their jobs. I cant help but express how sad it is that even we are feeling worried how even the judicial branch is not our relief.
It occurs to me that Cornyn, Paxton and Abbott aren't just posturing in the media and courts to dominate and demoralize Democrats. They are also competing for MAGA and Trump. Each is trying to be the one who brought Democrats to heel. Each wants to campaign on how it was they who did the tough work of beating recalcitrant Democrats (especially including Beto). I can see the general campaign videos now. Each also wants to have Trump's gratitude for giving him his gerrymander.
Which tells me that in the narrative wars, a really good play for is to stand pat, deny them the map, win the narrative war and make them look super weak and stupid.
this is a better headline from FWST: "More than 1,000 people filed into Fort Worth’s Ridglea Theatre on Saturday, putting on their “I’m so gonna vote” stickers to hear former U.S. Rep. Beto O’Rourke speak out against what he called President Donald Trump’s “power grab.”
yesterday i posted CBS number of 200.....200 v 1000...that in and of itself is news

see what i mean: this should be plastered on the home page and emailed and posted however on TCDP SM.....is this a crime Allison, i ask u? u seem quite content with the ineffective messaging with TCDP and Allison....Its essential that they have PR and communications strategy.......hell i long for the days when Rachel at least posted vids of her shopping trips
Thanks to you for all this information. I took a ME day. I was text that the Texas Democratic Party Congress people came home. I quickly looked up my number 1 source. Then attended my NEBCD General meeting. congressman Bernal and Trey Martinez Fisher zoomed into our meeting. 🙏🏼 they get money. I appreciate their sacrifices since I have a Republican Texas congressman and Senator! 🤮
One thousand two hundred showed up, and TCDP hosted it. Allison opened. I don't think you're being entirely fair. You should at least give her a chance to prove herself in the election. We went blue under her leadership before. And while there was a hiccup with the Crystal situation, I think she's grown a lot.

We do need them all!
You are one of our best independent journalists! I have learned so much from you!
Thank you. 💙💙

I think the thing that I, and others, worry about now is will Republicans judges still follow the law? I’d like to think they would.
Back when I was practicing in Tarrant County, our judges were excellent and quite professional. I don't know what it is like now, although some of those old judges are still there. I am more concerned about the Texas Supreme Court.
The judge, Megan Fahey, was appointed by Abbott.
Most of them were appointed by Abbott.

Thanks for that info. I’ll remember that for next time.
AAArrrgh!
Do you have a link to Beto's suit against Paxton? I'm told filed in El Paso County. TIA
Nope. Trust me, I looked.
Interesting that Terry Canales was absent today. Hopefully he continues to stay out and other Dems join him.
I encourage reader to go to https://tarrantdemocrats.org/
its not the end all and be all of communications , but it is an important cog
hit "Newsroom" tab...there u will find PR statements on the new Chair ascension and the old Chair 'quitting' , which is what she did
as if there is no other political news in Tarrant County in the last month!
its depressing.....and no one but no one besides myself gives a dam.......
my attitude and perspective is...if u can't communicate with regular D's , how in the hell are u going to motivate the non-voting Hispanic population?
the answere is: u can't
TCDP is a white and black Democratic party, and sort of a chick flick ta boot
Not much space for Hispanics, voters or not
if ur wondering why Hispanics voted for Trump, look at TCDP
we have and are colossally neglecting them in Tarrant County
PS: i invite anyone from TCDP to counter my observations

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2026-election/beto-orourke-blocked-financially-supporting-texas-democrats-fled-state-rcna224002 for christ sake this doesnt bode well. This may send a message on how other district courts will rule or how the Texas Supreme court will rule.

Very happy to see this before I really start my week-end, Michelle! Posting straight away!

Ridglea Theater has a seating capacity of 1000....200 showed up for Beto
no help from Allison Campolo and Tarrant County Democrats
