If you are a Texan, get to know the people who are volunteering for your County Democratic Party. Consider becoming a Precinct Chair (last day to file is Dec. 8!) Texas Democratic Party have online classes to learn what to do. Michelle has written a few great articles on the purpose of a Precinct Chair. We must all work to Get Out The Vote. (GOTV) Texans: Let’s turn Texas Blue!
If you are unhappy with your county, if it is red, become a democratic precinct chair. If you are in the suburbs of a blue county and disagree with the purity dems in your county, then become a democratic precinct chair. If you have a democratic precinct chair who you have never met, call them. If you have a democratic rep who you have never met, call them. Find your local club and ask how you can volunteer. If you see something that isn’t being done, guess what, no one is going to do it, go and volunteer for it! We need a ground team!
I might add, if you are a member of the SDEC, you should be communicating regularly with Dems in your District. At the very least you should go to any Dem clubs in your District at least once a year and be on their mailing list. Possibly you should also have a newsletter for Precinct Chairs or Chairs of Clubs. In the past one of mine regularly engaged in club meetings etc, but I never once met the other nor encountered her anywhere, never got an inquiry nor notice of any kind.
That is why I am running for SDEC for CD 6, because we are losing the person who does exactly that in redistricting. And the other one is doing absolutely nothing but spreading lies and misinformation about the state of the party. He is refusing to come to my events in his own city.
I read the Letter and just shook my head at the abject weakness of the Democrats who rolled over for the GOP agenda. It's amazing how people will roll over just so they can get a pat on the head from Republicans who have utter contempt for them.
It's like there is this "illness" among Democrats not just in Texas but in the whole country. Too many act as if raw power and its deployment is a bad thing. It's not! It's a tool that must be wielded especially in today's political environment. I really hope there are enough Democrats in both the Texas legislature and in the grassroots who find their backbone to fight not just for their constituents but also for the good of the country.

Lies and misinformation?! I shall from here on out refer to him as "poopy-pants."
