I usually won't watch videos because they wear me out, but I watched a snippet of a few of these and I'm just flat worn down to a nub (as my father-in-law from East TX used to say). It all sounds like a bunch of gibberish to me. They are speaking in a code derived from being online too much. Texas Democrats in the general election need to highlight the fact that most of what these R's are talking about has no connection to their roads, their schools, their grid or their water. Instead, as they blather on about this stuff, they are taking billionaires' money and selling Texans out.

First, Led Zeppelin should sue crazy Valentina's ass. Second, Mayes Middleton (jawless wonder) will soon learn that adding "maga" to his name will be a HUGE liability. Third, Jackie Schlegel is opposed to "forced vaccinations" (whatever that is), but you can bet she is in favor of forced sterilization of minorities.

100% to all of that.

Whelp, it looks like the average intelligence, completely cynical, lying dog MAGA politicians are sitting out 2026, leaving the field to the wingnut bottom dwellers so common in their party.

Are you surprised?

Nope. On that note, ERCOT has estimated that there is an 80% chance of rolling blackouts in the upcoming winter storm. For comparison, ten years ago the chances were routinely around 5%. As a former electric utility senior manager in regulatory affairs, and former PUCTX staffer, there's no adequate way to express my shock at this risk of rolling blackouts. An 80% chance puts Texas squarely in the same class as developing economies, except that many second world countries have more robust electric power grids than Texas now has.

That is the legacy of the PUCTX allowing New York hedge funds to take over the historically dominant electric utilities in the state and use them as their personal piggy banks, no doubt paying off the gangsters in Austin for the privilege. It is also a testament to the irresponsibiity and greed of the TX lege, who are more interested in suppressing voting than they are in protecting Texans from drowning in floods or freezing to death.

So, to recap, there's an 8 in 10 chance that this weekend will be Snowmageddon 2. And yet, I haven't heard any politicians in Austin giving Texans guidance on what to expect, or how to prepare. Get ready for the worst, and don't expect anyone in Austin or DC to lift a finger to help you.

I just can’t. So, I am just focusing on the Dallas County Primary for Tony Grimes. There is no Republican and the race is 5 weeks away and it is one of the biggest County budgets in the state. So that is the only race I am focusing on. Why? It is the only one that means a damn thing to me or my city right now. Everything else is just fine until after March 3. With the millions upon millions that will be spend on CD 33 when it will be a Dem, and unless it is Zeeshan, not much difference. Well this County Clerk race actually makes a difference to every single person, democrats or republican in the largest Democrat county (wait doesn’t Harris have more dems? Well, we don’t really know because thousands of voters who are probably dems don’t vote because they never have any thing to vote for and it is too expensive to get out the vote in over 400 precincts when we have only 1/3 of the precincts filled. Sorry, it has been a really fucking long week…oh shit it is only Tuesday. Omg, I am exhausted and spent.

Well, I just need to be reminded of the great turn out in Corsicana on Saturday for our rural Dem forum, and all the voters in Grand Prairie that I spoke with about their special election on Sunday.

MAGAS are taking eating their own to a whole new level. If it's possible, most of them are lower than a snake's belly. This is the Hunger Games on steroids. I do hope that Democrats focus on the issues that matter most, and that people will vote as if their lives depend on it.

I’m behind so I skimmed it. But how in the heck do the GOP allow any Latino to run and say they will make sure all the “illegals” will be picked up?

What upsets me the most…. Is any trumper eat at any immigrants food! When I see someone in one of my Mom/Pop Mexican restaurants and they are wearing a MAGA Hat! 🤬🤬🤬

Since I can’t say I “Hate” anyone. I will say that “I really dislike the behaviors of these candidates!” 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 may the good guys/gals win.

Rest…and then do your stuff, keep sharing…and register voters. If we can get more progressives on the ballots in November we are fighting the battles to turn this state blue. I had a conversation with a senior in high school yesterday and he asked what is this election in March for? I said picking your BEST candidate so we can make positive change. (i also had to explain what a primary is, but baby steps right now)🥹Take care!

I read an academic paper several years ago examining the radicalization of the gop. It essentially said that contrary to perceived wisdom that the extremism of gop voters were pushing the party to the right, it was the radicalized people running for office who were causing the problem. Based on this article, it seems everything is bigger in Texas especially the RW nuttiness happening there.

I may have mentioned it before, but Texas is definitely ground zero.

Liza Hameline's avatar

Yes it is. And we live in ground zero in Texas, it is smack dab in Irving, Grand Prairie, Arlington and Mansfield, we are gerrymandered to the ground. We have been silenced with duct tape and no one seems to care. We just keep working one precinct at a time and we have an amazing slate of dem candidates who are actual knocking on doors.

Thanks Michelle! I haven't watched them all yet, but your instincts on timing were great! Just shared on Bsky.
