I want to share my little postcard project, thanks to Matt Wuerker’s permission to use his cartoon and a Dallas friend’s talent in presenting text much more effectively than I. Please see this link to print two-sided, turn on short side, postcards on cardstock or Avery 8387 to leave in all the public areas you can find. Print pages 1 and 2 for the Texas version (or 1 and 3 for the non-Texas version, the difference being the QR code readers are sent to for checking voter registration status).

Thanks, Michelle. I'm in the Dallas area and carry out my little project here everywhere I go. But I'm really interested in more rural areas of Texas. On a recent drive through west Texas, I left these every time we stopped for a break--I would buy billboards if I could, but these are the next best thing and much cheaper! I fear that low information voters are not aware of what's going on sometimes.

Good take, Michelle. It's easy for me to say it now, but my gut reaction about Beto was exactly like yours. Beto's visits to other states made me wonder if he is in it for the presidency. He certainly is about structural rebuilding of Democratic power. I really like the idea of Castro for Governor.

Abbott and his dark money puppet masters really did a job undermining and redefining Beto as a weirdo in the governor's race. That left a mark. Texas political contests in 2026 are going to be proof of the concept that Texas (progressive) Democrats can win here. It is going to be trench warfare. The biggest challenge is that it is going to require changing people's cultural bias to stay in their Republican peer group. Republicans pay a price socially for consorting with Democrats. I am mainly thinking of my people - the West Texans. (my family left a couple of generations ago for San Marcos)

Republicans have so thoroughly conflated the false narrative of combating the monster Democrats with people's well-being and the common good that it will be hard to wedge them away from that. I believe Republicans have successfully convinced people to ignore their economic interests in favor of cultural issues. I just listened to the WFAA Y'alltics podcast where the most amiable, rational, smart Republican rancher earnestly detailed how Trump destroying the wind and solar incentives that keep his ranch running are going to ruin him. He also detailed how destroying wind and solar contradicts the long-term Republican plan to make Texas the nation leader in renewables. Then, in the next breath he declared that will never, ever vote for a Democrat because even with the economic damage Trump and the Republicans are causing, cultural issues were more important to him. You can lead a horse to water... (All those DC Democrats who are so fixated on economic issue as the only way to win, should listen to that podcast)

So, I won't say it's going to be fun, but this election season will be exciting. I can't wait!

i have long felt the the 'eggs too damn hi' rationale for the MAGA win is wrong. I think its folks afraid to be seen as voting Dems in their church and PTA or soft ball team. We are finding out that a solid 1/2 of America are sheeple.

Leftist, Liberal, Progressive—think chocolate. There’s dark, milk, and white (OK, white isn’t genuinely chocolate), and chocolate with sea salt, chilli, nuts—any number or variations. It’s ALL called chocolate. We are all different labels, but we are all fighting for democracy, equality, and justice for all. We are all working against the Radical Right Regime. Call me any label you please. What matters is that I stand on the same side of the line as those other labels—and do so proudly.

I'm really tired of the picayune and pissant conflicts between people on the broader left i.e. liberals and progressives. Depending on issue, there is strong agreement on 70 to 90-95% between the two camps on almost everything. People going off on Michelle and James Talarico because they are "too progressive" are wasting time and precious energy.

Yet some people, both progressive and liberal, still insist on perfection and 100% agreement and spend more tired trashing the other side than attacking the fascist plutocratic regime. This kind of nonsensical focus on relatively minor policy difference when the gop wants to destroy democracy and harm countless people is just dumb and destructive. It's partially why the Democrats lost in 2016 and could still kill our chances in 2026 and 2028. Let's hope more people get a real clue about the real threat instead of worrying because their pet policy can't be implemented perfectly and immediately or by the "wrong type" of Democrat.

As far as Talarico is concerned, luckily for us, every single Democrat thinks he's one of theirs. I even discussed with a Cletus-type of Republican a few weeks back, who told me Talarico was a Conservative Democrat, and that's why Republicans liked him. Then I heard a Communist say that if all Democrats were like Talarico, they'd vote for Democrats too. But I do think he's an anomaly, and I do think he's going to win.

That is very interesting intel about how well Talarico goes over with various groups. I think when a politician has a strong sense of self, has an actual belief system and is self-confident about those beliefs, people respond. The fact that he might be one who could get independents and crossover Republicans will put a dark money target on his back.

When the first poll comes out showing him climbing, watch as the attack ads start flying. Will he be able to keep defining himself as Republicans try to define him? I think he has a pretty good chance.

I also think former San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg should consider running for governor. He is less "progressive," but he was considered for a cabinet level position in the Biden Administration and he did a good job here. I want someone strong to defeat Gov. Abbott! The National Democrats must invest in Texas!

I also want to thank you for not allowing the GOP brand us. We need to fight anytime the brand us! We need to brand ourselves right after they call us anything especially if it is a lie! I’m wearing a “Why I am a Democrat” T-Shirt. It list most of the progressive policies that were past by the Democratic Party Candidates.

We need to label ourselves. ☺️

well here is some news available to have been published by TCDP on its webpage on Labor Day especially if we are as committed to labor as much as we say we are.

GM said Tuesday that the 2024 pretax payout for its UAW-represented workforce will be up to $14,500 for those who qualify. That's a jump from the 2023 payout of $12,250. For 2022, GM's payout of was $12,750, the highest since 2016 when it was at $12,000 per employee." -Detroit Free Press

NEW NEWS
