Texas Republicans have been infiltrated by the cartoon version of Texas that the rest of the country has of the state via movies, etc. They aren't from Texas, so they re-enact the stereotype and expect real Texans to validate that. I have been reading some Texas Republican Substacks. Real Texans are very aware of these transplants and are quite displeased by the fact they are not from Texas.

The Texas Republican Party is currently Exhibit A for what happens when national politics or the simulation of national politics on cable news supplants the actual local issues and solutions of local politics. Too many average voters seem to misunderstand the power flows here. And that is the secret to these transplants' success. Also, there is a structural weakness inherent in sustained one-party control. Texas Republicans built machine politics over thirty years of uncontested power. This is its downfall. All the transplants had to do is seize control of the Republican machine and kick the pre-existing Republicans out to become unassailable. Trump did this with the national party.
The goal of democracy should be competition rather than a one-party monopoly. By having a fair and full airing of political positions, people can think about and test political solutions to problems. This makes the eventual result both stronger and more likely to reflect better outcomes for more people. It looks like Texas Democrats are gearing up to provide some real competition while the Texas Republican machine is starting to seize up.
I hear there are 8,500 people coming to Corpus for the convention. Dan Patrick is worried. He doesn't understand why he can't threaten his voters the way he can Republicans in the Texas Senate.

Why is Kendall Scudder conceding CD TX-21? The GOP candidate is totally unqualified & without a single idea of his own - he is admittedly a rubber stamp for The Orange Turd.
Kristen's problem will be heavily red, heavily older counties like Kerr and Gillespie. We just had over 2,300 people vote for Paxton, compared to 1,200 for Cornyn. That shocked me and I live here. And locally, they consider the Federal Governments response to the flood to be way better than Biden's response to North Carolina. But, the local business groups and flood response organizations want to see FEMA change its rules are business loans. She may be able make in roads that way if she was willing to support those changes. And I don't mean trying to flip red votes blue, as much as getting non voting business owners to vote blue.
It should be noted that Gilberto Hinojosa was still Chair in 2024. The Chair’s job is to raise money and build infrastructure. I know that the National Party is only focused on 15 and 35, right now, not sure if that will change.
What do you think Kristin is missing? Is she signed up for the coordinated campaign?
The party definitely won’t get involved in the primaries. I’ll keep an eye out, and now that the runoffs are all over, I want to look at all the races again.

I disassociated myself from Kristin’s campaign in early January because she was replicating her previous campaign - when she got her ass kicked.
