I was hoping you wouldn't mention this so the Republicans wouldn't know. 😁 Actually we have been on Vikki's team almost from the beginning because she knows how to overcome some tricks the GOP plays. I love her little videos with her hubby. Low cost way to make an impact.
Brilliant! Thank you so much for such a clear and compelling argument about local power and specifically the power in the office of the Lt. Governor. The good news is Talarico is bringing in new voters for him. The bad news is Talarico is bringing in voters excited by the national narratives and oblivious to the American system of dual sovereignty.
It's great they are voting for Talarico, but as you emphasize, these voters may not understand the necessity of dislodging entrenched Republican power in Texas. I actually made the points in this article, except applied to Tim O'Hare, with a new Talarico acolyte. I got the blank stare of someone listening to something that does not compute. It scared me a little that they refused to understand that Talarico wasn't going to snap his fingers and change Texas from Washington.
It is going to be a very long slog to interest the average voter in the ins and outs of Texas government. Texas power flows aren't going to excite these voters like they do me. However, as long as we convince them to vote a straight ticket - don't stop checking off the "D"'s on your ballot after you vote for Talarico, then we might just make it.
Vicki Goodwin could explain this in her social media posts. As usual, Texas Dems do a terrible job in campaign pitches. She is repeating the problem in her current campaign. ALL TEXAS DEM CANDIDATES COULD.

Thank you, Michelle! Just shared on bsky. Sobering, but we gotta do what we gotta do & can use all the help we can possibly get.
I wish people knew how important this role is.
