When I got his text (for money) I got so upset! WTF! He will only hurt Rep. Goodwin in the General. I figured he doesn’t want to invest money to beat her in the primary! BUT really that is dirty politics!

I am not happy and I was in a group chat of like 8 people and everyone said the same thing you said. Now I know what ego does in politics. 🤬

Thanks for your article.

Will you be reminding me when it’s time to renew?

I saw him at Tribfest and went by to say hello. That was before I knew. A bit later I saw Vikki Goodwin and her campaign manager who were quite upset with him, naturally. We had a conversation about what we will be doing.

Oh, and Nathan Sheets was everywhere. He even ran over and volunteered to take a picture of us. And later said hey good to see you again. 😆

He is the Republican running for Agriculture Commissioner. Had to look him up.

Yah, I’ve seen him on TV, he owns a bee farm or something like that. He makes honey, I think.

Yes he did but sold it apparently to run for office though may still be the manager(?).

I read a very long time ago that anyone who runs for any political office harbors the belief they can ultimately become POTUS. I interpreted that statement that someone running for office must have a pretty large ego. It seems to me that Collier's ego can't get past the need to respect the voters in a primary challenge let alone running in a general election.

I wasn’t happy when he filed either. He take votes from the Dems not from Republicans. I read his book and am glad he put his name on the ballot those years when we had no one. But he hasn’t ever build the party or spent any time in Dallas. So buh bye. If you aren’t building the party, going to all 254 counties, then see ya. When I went to the Texas Democratic Convention in June 2024, as an absolute newcomer to insider party politics, I came away with the following:

1. Chair Hinojosa was terrible. The way the progressives were treated was awful. I could tell immediately there was a civil war in the party happening and I didn’t know what would happen.

2. Kendall Scudder would be the next Democratic Party Chair and I loved everything that he stood for. I was Team Scudder for sure

3. Vicki Goodwin was running for Lt. Governor. She personally introduced herself to me in the middle of the street, while Senator Nathan Johnson ignored me when I was standing right next to Rep. John Bryant. Pretty sad considering I was part of the Dallas Delegation and he is my state senator. I learned an important lesson, you never know where you are going to be in a year, treat every person like they are the most important person in the world. Enough said about that. Regardless, Team Vickie.

I may be wrong, but wasn’t Collier serving as treasurer for the Texas Democrats until recently?

The Treasurer was Odus Evbagharu, for several years, before that I believe it was Kendal Scudder.
