I’m running for SDEC CD-18 and Disabilities chair

Just checking because I have had to miss the Conventions in recent years, you could not hold both positions, right.

I’m going for both just in case i don’t get one or the other

So they are elected in Caucuses right? Would there be two caucuses at the same time?

You know I have been screaming for new leadership and was fighting alongside Kendall and now Progressive Caucus Chair Angel Smith at the DNC. I am so sick of democrats who only fight democrats. It is time to start winning elections and that means SDEC members who support the growth of their county parties year round.

I think I’d like to do this. I want to be involved. I feel like I’m on the inside, somewhat. I am progressive.

The one that might be the best fit for me is SDEC environmental.

You should! As long as you can swing it. It's such an important job at the party.

I applied for credentials committee.

I’ve never been to the state convention. I have a couple of questions.

What should I expect?

How does the SDEC election process work?

I appreciate any thoughts!

It's a few days long. The first two days, they have a lot of speeches and workshops. That's also likely when the caucuses and committees will meet. In 2024, a lot of the permanent committees also met on Zoom in the weeks leading up to the convention. https://www.youtube.com/@TexasDemocraticParty/streams

I was at the 2022 convention, and the SDEC districts all met separately for their elections, which were held via ranked-choice voting. I forgot which day we did that on.

You should expect to see lots of elected officials, meet lots of new friends, and find tables with orgs selling or giving out swag or informing people about their orgs.

Every year is different because the TDP has a different Convention Committee each time, which plans and schedules it. But they should give you a schedule when you get there.

How would you prepare for going to the state DC to push a hardline progressive agenda? I’m in the vein of AOC, Bernie, Greg Casar, Mamdani.

Thank you, Michelle! Already shared on bsky.

So far do you have who is on CD positions. I spoken with a current member last night and apparently he had a list but I did not think to ask about where he got it.

I mean I have not been an intimate in the party preferring issues or public candidates, but we have never heard at all from anyone on the SDEC unlike some who do newsletters or regular meetings etc. This year I know both who have declared and at present stand to be elected.

That is a comprehensive list and several have apparently just been added. Thanks so much. I see the person who has been on the board for years but never once communicated anything is running again.
