WooHoo!!! Thank you for the great news & your plans, Michelle! Already shared on Bsky!

Thank you Kendall Scudder! This is all HIM! He pledged to do this and he did. Now onto all the precinct chairs. I have been commenting on every single national pundit who are cheering on Jasmine Crockett, great but how about if cannot vote here then send money to the Texas Democratic Party so we can ensure a Democrat wins the senate race. Over and over. Just like you, I am leaving the senate race alone. Don’t get me started on CD 33. It is already a blood bath. CD 33 is 74% Latina. Also only 8 precincts in Irving are in it, so yes, Julie did represent them, but most of her 115 is now in 6 or 24, so it isn’t going to help much. Also, while not the majority of our Muslim voters but a big chunk. And I was already worried about Talarico and Allred in Irving. But Valley Ranch didn’t care about casinos which is hurting Talarico. What they really are upset about is AIPAC. So could get very very interesting.

Great news 💕

I was surprised to learn Marc Veasey filed to run as County Judge in Tarrant County. Good move I guess.

Michelle H. Davis's avatar

He won't win. Alisa Simmons is widely loved.

I do love her. County Judge and Commissioners are specialized, technical offices. Alisa has a lot of experience. It looks like Veasey made his decision just moments before filing to run. I do like O'Hare drawing two good Democrats in the primary though.

Veda's avatar

Ok I did not hear she was running for the same position. Not sure how I missed that.

Liza Hameline's avatar

No it sucks, it all sucks.

Too many good democrats fighting for the same seats. This could have been handled way way better.

Marc Veasey isn't a good Dem. He was on my list of "Democrats Who Should Be Primaried" before this. IJS.

As a resident of Tarrant County, a former adjunct professor at Tarrant County College and a paralegal and then a lawyer practicing in Tarrant County and interacting with the Tarrant County Clerk, I am sickened at how MAGA Republicans have taken one of the best run counties, not just in the state, but in the nation and run it straight into the ground.

Look at the jail. It has turned into a hell hole. Courts apparently (I'm not practicing anymore) are not running as efficiently, TCC is probably being hurt by anti-DEI, voting access is restricted and we were vindictively redistricted.

County commissioners and County judges' job duties are 99% baked in. It is an administrative position, i.e. a real job. There really is no room for discretionary bullshit like there is in open-ended legislative jobs. Yes, O'Hare has turned it into such a job, but in so doing, he has allowed real services to degenerate. And Republicans here are not happy about it I suspect.

I have met Veasey and liked him. He has never done anything to me. If he is elected, I expect my life as a Tarrant County resident to improve. I don't care if he is a good Democrat or a bad Democrat. The pre-MAGA Republicans back in the 80's and 90's

were good at running Tarrant County and I happily accepted the benefits of that. BTW, a lot of those people were Democrats before Texas flipped.Thinking as a voter, I would be happy for Veasey to beat O'Hare because he would be a real public servant, not a MAGA shill. It seems to me Veasey is trying to serve Tarrant County and Texas by taking what is surely a big step down from Congress.

Of course, you are entitled to your opinion. You have a whole different perspective on things I don't know anything about. I still love you.

I am just going to keep going. It sucks. That is all I can say. I will work my ass off to recruit precinct chairs now.

Michelle H. Davis's avatar

To infinity, and beyond! 🦸🏻‍♀️

Veda's avatar

I have been trying to do that for a couple of years off and on, not as vigorously as you I am sure, but it is tough all around. The redraw helped for my precinct. As it was rather spaced out and large, the CD redraw split mine in half. Much easier to manage.

Liza Hameline's avatar

Let's talk, we have a plan.

I have just been so over the moon about this news. By the time I got my jaw off the floor I got more excited. So now I've got to dig in and get caught up. I honestly didn't think this was possible. Tears lots and lots of tears!

Michelle - new candidate for HD 138 - Natalie Blasingame running against Lacy Hull. She’s the insane CyFair ISD trustee who cut vaccines from textbooks and is deep into Christian Nationalist insanity. I have a screenshot lemme try to chat you here or on Bluesky with it.

Michelle H. Davis's avatar

I remember her from when she ran from CyFair the first time; she was endorsed by Valoree Swanson's PAC (and I know a lot of Swanson haters from Houston). Thanks for the heads up, I'm actually making updates to the list right now.

I added a comment and screenshot to Bluesky too showing a pic of her announcing.

What about the judicial races? We cant just avoid them. They are also to blame and contribute feeding onto this.

Michelle H. Davis's avatar

I know. And I did say I would track them. Now that the final deadline has passed, it will be easier. I have not forgotten about them. Did we get a candidate in every judicial seat? I don't know the answer to that. I'll find out for sure tomorrow, and I'll start working on the list.

Mubashir Saleem's avatar

Sorry! Didnt mean to say you arent tracking them! I just hope we can finally purge some of these federalist hacks in Texas because the judiciary has made it miserable in Texas

Michelle H. Davis's avatar

No, it's okay. I just know I've been pushing it off, but I will get to it before the world rains acorns. 😉
