Great stuff, Michelle! Thank you. I've been up all night again, but that didn't keep me from reading this aloud to my husband & watching the good Dr's videos!

You know where I'm sharing.

Michelle, I have been following your reporting for months now and I do remember on many occasions those same « stay at home » democrats-house reps and senators voting against party lines this past session and their votes were not making sense to me. Is DINO a thing? They will all need to be called out for not supporting their constituents….whatever their reasoning. Thank you for your consistent and honest work!

Michelle H. Davis's avatar

Yes, it's the same ones who don't vote on party lines. DINOs for sure. Or maybe wolves in sheep's clothing.

Michelle, you are a state (soon-to-be NATIONAL) treasure! Thank you for your diligent research and reporting prowess!

Amen Michelle. This is what the democratic party has to aspire to. Otherwise step away and dont enter in the fray.

Michelle, the Hidalgo Democratic Party put out a press release announcing that our state reps stay in Austin was strategic. Have you seen the press release?

Michelle H. Davis's avatar

What a load of shit. I haven't seen. Do you have a link?

Thanks for a very informative, passionate, caring and encouraging article about this important gerrymandering issue, Michelle.

I totally agree with your paragraph below:

“I’m in this because Texas is my home. I love it too much to give up on it. I’m not moving. I’m not bowing out. I want to turn this state blue and fix everything Republicans broke. And if that means lighting a few political bridges on fire along the way? Good. Let’s warm up.”

"criticizing our own"

Who, exactly is our own?

No criticism now, but she can join the Henry Cuellars and others of their ilk on the cut list later.

alot of right wing kookienss came out of oil soaked texas in the 30's when some real nutters got rich....bored of their big houses, couldn't really u run around on their wives , they resorted to concotocting ...u guessed ,..poltitcal conspiracies.

the problem with Texas being so plug stupid, we believe everything but science.

Black v. white was all ways an effort to get poor whites to blame poor blacks on why rich white guys were always standing on everybodies necks....a hundered years of that has some lasting effects

speaking of dogged conspiracy theories , i can't find one Tarrant Hispanic Democrat decyring anything.....do they think TCDP or Veasey has their back....why are they so docile?

I used to know the guy's name right off the top of my head, but now I've forgotten it. The last Confederate to serve in the Texas House was in the 1930s. And he was an old geezer then.

Just saw this on Instagram sounds like his ready to stay put until the very end! I know he has other things right now but I want him announce he's run for governor more and more every single day. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DM_Ux1VsplJ/?igsh=MWIzOHA0M2l2OXI4aA==

Good morning! Last year on Labor Day, he was the speaker for our fundraiser (we have it every year) I begged him to run. He told me that he was in seminary school so that he could be a preacher. I told him Texas needs him. Then I told him I would be praying that God moves him to be Governor. ☺️. I still am, and I pray it works. He can be preacher after he is governor. 😉

Michelle, this is the kind of truth that doesn’t flinch. What Conservatives are conserving isn’t tradition. It’s control. Gerrymanders, bomb threats, and lawsuits are just new tools for the same old power grab. “Because we can” isn’t a tactic. It’s a confession.

And yes, the deeper betrayal is Democrats who show up to play nice while others are risking everything. Calling that out isn’t disloyalty. It’s the only way forward.

Texas is worth the fight. Your words are fire. When the button gets pushed, I’ll be standing in the smoke with you.

Also. When can we primary the senate democrats that didnt had the courage to join in on this ^_^? The senate also breaking Quorum could have also put even more pressure on these jerks. I am still annoyed that they have annoyed done so cause if the senate decided to join in they could pushed them further

My yesterday went from 7:30 am to 10:30 working for my Democratic Party, where I live. I had a ton of emails when I had the time to look, saw your article in my inbox box, but told myself, I’m too spent to read it. I will read it first thing this morning. I’m still tired. But oh my gosh! Great article and agree 100%. I’m not shocked that Phillip Cortez is on that list but thoroughly disappointed in Judith Zaffirini! Not shocked. Also 🙏🏼 they both get a primary opponent! I’m with you! My heart is helping Texas Turn BLUE. I don’t have the energy to work for the whole state. I am 100% committed to work hard for my County! If everyone Democratic leaning worked hard for their County, I figured we can do this! Especially with the knowledge you give us day to day. Keep up the great work. I need it! We need it. Knowledge is power.

My take is there is an evolutionary process happening with Democrats in Texas and nationwide. As the saying goes "Hard times make hard people". The authoritarian BS is evoking hard-core and steely-eyed rage among enough Democrats to confront this garbage while pushing aside the DND's i.e. Do Nothing Democrats whole are too spineless and cowardly to do anything.
