Excellent breakdown, Michele. We ALL love and respect Jasmine. But for all the reasons you provide, Talarico, in my 30-year history of voting as a Texan, is our very best shot at FINALLY flipping that senate seat. The environment has never been more perfect for his very unique way of communicating relatable messages. His crossover appeal is real...commenting as a progressive who is also atheist.
I *pray* Jasmine will not enter this race. We need for her to keep fighting--in her exact "no f's given"-- manner. She has been one of the great standouts in our resistance fight.
💯 Look what Abbott did to drive down Beto's popularity in the governor's race.I agree with Michelle. Unfortunately, certain politicians have been cast in as foils for Republican lies. Rhetorical question: could Republicans even get elected without demonizing Democrats since they have no real policies other than corruption and Christian Nationalism? I wonder what would have happened if we had had competitive Democratic primaries and run someone other than Hillary. The negative partisanship against her was through the roof, but Democrats ran her anyway. And I think she would have been a very good president. But close only counts in horseshoes.
We need candidates who will confound Republican voters by simultaneously speaking to their legitimate economic concerns and contradicting the bigoted and cultural villain role Democrats are typecast as. I cannot think of a better example of a candidate who can attract a broad-base of voters, including Republicans, than James Talarico. Lots of voters are like Rogan. They are not well-rounded citizens aware of how government works and what its purpose really is. Talarico can walk these kinds of voters up to where they will vote for him. Crockett won't be given that chance, at least not in this election cycle.
Amen. Not running Democratic Party presidential candidates who conservative white men will vote for has come close to costing us the republic. James Talarico is exactly who Texas needs in this moment. He's smart, he's tough, he's a white man, he's a native son who will fight for Texans, and he's a Baptist. Former Republicans will cross party lines to vote for him. As much as I like and admire Jasmine Crockett, her service in the House is too valuable to lose, just when the House is about to begin investigating and prosecuting the Trump regime's corruption and crimes. As a former prosecutor and super smart attorney, she is needed there.
So well said, Michelle. You are spot-on about Jasmine, who's smart, outspoken, and courageous. But I agree that the GOP would block her with a vengence.
Ouch! 💔 The TRUTH always hurts! Yes, I agree with you 100%! I wished it were NOT true. I want a female to become President but the USA is not as progressive as Mexico is and it upsets me so!
The invert also upsets me. The next President for the Democratic Party must be a white man. 😤🤬The most qualified female to be President of the USA was Secretary Hillary Clinton. Damn Russia, trump and GOP. 😤😤😤
And maybe they can. Maybe I'm being over-analytic. I've just been a Texas Democrat long enough to know to look at every angle. Because where we aren't looking is most likely to stick us hardest.
We all need to call her office, tell her we love her, but we need her in the house! Now,Before the 12/8 announcement, to give her a chance to change her mind about a senate race.
I don’t know how we went from that great rally this summer where they all professed their commitment to running as a slate, to this splintering with all of them wanting senator.
Maybe it was wishful thinking, but that’s what we all felt that night in Austin at the rally- unification of resolve and commitment to an actual strategy.
It’s just disheartening.
She hasn’t announced so there’s still time to intervene. Hit the phones y’all!☎️
Well, I totally agree with you and the comments of others. have had several in person contacts with Jasmine and some of her staff, and all of them are terrific. I even claim her as my Congressperson since mine is so bad. I presume that most have seen her invitation to attend her big announcement for Monday, Dec. 8. We in Texas have so many conscientious, caring, all-around fantastic Democratic potential candidates but the negative voting is definitely a problem. And the article from the Tribune about youth in Harris County who cannot escape poverty, and how that affects Voter turnout and the success or failure of the Democratic candidates is a cycle to notice
💯 Personally, I support Talarico. I believe he'll have a real shot at winning the General Election. At the end of the day, that's what will matter most.
I searched my podcast app for episodes that contain "Jasmine Crockett". The overwhelming majority I found are MAGA podcasts hating on her. I wish it were different, but wishing won't make it so.
The negative partisanship research info you noted confirms what I sensed -- that the negative opinions of her amongst MAGA are likely to fuel turnout among them.
Meanwhile, MAGA hasn't yet seemed to find a negative hook for Talarico.
I want Crockett to keep speaking out for Texans, for Americans.
And I want to win the General Election for US Senate.

Except he belongs to a Presbyterian Church in Austin.
An awesome, liberal Presbyterian Church whose minister and members live their values!
Even better.
Could be. It is just a fact his grandfather was a Baptist pastor and his recent sermons can be found on YouTube at the Presbyterian Church.

No, I have had the same thoughts without your analytics. It still hurts, though. Maybe, I root for the underdogs? 🤷🏻♀️.

Yes -- looks like once ppl know about Talarico, they like him.
Thank you so much for addressing this, Michelle!!! I've been seeing that insistent rumor within my circles also. Already posted on Bsky.
Also -- didn't realize that Allred hasn't filed yet ... ?
Yep.
