Chip Roy is a cancer survivor who had his medical treatment paid by insurance that's completely funded by taxpayers. But he opposes the ACA as well as any extension of subsidies that could end the shutdown. He's one of the worst hypocritical lying demagogues but also a follower of Jesus.
Will Rogers never met Chip Roy. I guarantee he would not have liked him. What is a First Assistant Attorney General? Just another lawyer working for the Office of the Attorney General. The Office of the Attorney General is a civil enforcement agency, not a criminal law enforcement agency, nor is it a miniature DOJ. It has very little criminal jurisdiction*! It is supposed to mainly protect consumers from business fraud (HA!) and collect child support. I deplore the way people are now using the term "Texas' Chief Law Enforcement Officer." The press repeats that mischaracterization to the detriment of civic knowledge. The OAG does not include the enforcement of criminal law. It skews things when the public is misled about what and how our government works. This allows office holders to take on powers they do not have.
One of the things that got Paxton impeached was him trying to assert criminal jurisdiction. Roy's ad implies the AG is a criminal law enforcement "officer". Nothing in this ad even touches on anything the OAG actually does to protect Texans. However, to the extent playing a pseudo-Texan on TV can get a guy elected, Roy fails miserably at that. I can't even stand to go through all the idiotic cosplay in that ad, I might barf.
I want to see the Democratic Party's nominee, whoever it may be, rip Roy's Texas "cred" apart in the general election. These carpetbagger politicians like Roy insult us with their condescending assumptions about our intelligence and our character. Sure, they have gotten elected here. But, if Texans were enthusiastically on board with them, they wouldn't need to spend so much time and money rigging the voting system.
*The Texas Constitution prevents the AG from prosecuting and charging people under criminal law. This power resides with individual, local prosecutors. The AG can refer someone to a prosecutor, but that prosecutor retains discretion over whether to charge. This design is to prevent exactly what we see with Trump's DOJ. If we don't get these guys out of Austin, they will eventually change that.
“Only candy-assed fascists would cry over billionaire profits while poor people in this country die without access to healthcare. Definitely, not an “alpha male.””
This needs to be mailed to every one of his constituents on a flyer with a laughing emoji and a “he’s not even a real Texan” with a photoshopped picture of his face on Ron DeSantis wearing white rubber boots.
I will not be reminding not encouraging those immediately around me to vote, as they are wilfully brainwashed MAGAs who absorb Fox, Sunday morning Christian Nationalist preachers, and YouTube MAGA propaganda like it's their job.

Makes total sense. 🙄
