Maybe its time for some well-placed video equipment. Back in the 2016 election in Austin, someone's Hillary sign kept getting torn down. It became a neighborhood kerfluffle with accusations against the people with a Trump sign. Then, someone set up a camera. The culprit? A young spike buck trying out his antlers on the Hillary sign which was plastic or some such. Apparently, he liked the racket it made and he came by every evening to beat the crap out of it.
Interesting San Antonio race and one to watch. Let's not forget about Taylor Rehmet up here in North Texas running in a special election for SD-9 (Texas Senate). Speaking of bad judgment, his Republican opponent is a doozey.
Campos strikes me as a type of politician who sees elective office as an opportunity to show out instead of being a servant of their constituents. That's a maga trademark (cough, cough, marjorie trailer queen, cough, cough, lauren blowbert) and it's always a bad sign. We don't need any Democrats like this either.
I met Ryan Ayala at the NEBCD Labor Day Picnic. 2025. He introduced himself to me and I said “aren’t you a precinct chair for 4200?” He said yes but I will have to resign because I will be running for HD119 against Liz Campos. Since I read almost all of your post, I was happy to hear that. Then I learned that Liz Campos has strong roots. Unfortunately long standing Democratic Party Leader told me Ryan doesn’t have a chance. She doesn’t read your articles. I told her some things that I read. Then that person proceeded to tell me the roots. 🤦🏽♀️ This is what happens when people don’t follow how their representatives vote, they continue to love them. Luckily this person can’t vote for her. She also likes Phillip Cortez. 🤦🏽♀️. I told her how I feel about him too. 😩 Rep. Cortez did pass a Bill for her, though. Something to do with the precinct chair application. I don’t remember what it was. Anyway, back to the day I met Ryan, I asked him to resign asap because I had someone to take over his precinct. And he graciously did. So, that I could train his replacement and the two of them have worked the precinct together.
People really need to get to know their candidate/elected. I get why they don’t. It takes up time. Not everyone has time. When I was teaching, had 3 kids, 2 dogs and a husband. I didn’t have time at all. I didn’t even know who my City Council person was. 1985-2014 I was totally ignorant about politics. There is still a lot I don’t know.
Thanks. Usually, I would say that incumbents do have the upper hand, but I'm seeing that Ayala is getting a lot of support on the ground, including some big endorsements, and I think he will give Campos a run for her money, for sure. Now, will she put in the work to turn out the primary vote? If she does, she's probably safe. But from what I'm hearing, Ayala has been door-knocking and working hard for months.

I have not forgotten about SD09, not in the least bit. 😁
