The other thing to keep in mind that those who fought during the Civil Rights movement had to face far worse than we do today. If they had the courage to fight, what's our current excuse to feel scared or hopeless? We need to follow their example, focus on registering people to vote (despite the Texas Democrats' ineptitude), and drive GOTV efforts as much as possible over every election like our lives depend on it.
Absolutely, they're scared. Just watch Abbott's behavior every time there's an election. He acts scared.
It was much worse in the 50s and 60s, I think people now don't even realize how bad it was. I read a lot of old newspapers and the Tuskegee Institute used to publish each year, how many lynchings, bombings, and other types of hate crimes happened the year before. (It was a lot) But, yeah that's my point, they had the courage and made it through, we can too.

GOTV is the key, as always.
