Sounds like a lot of Texans are not going to be happy with them returning. Unless Texans believe the stories being told by the Democratic Party Leadership. Unfortunately, these maps could affect Black Americans the most. Too many Latinos think they are white and will not be affected by the White Nationalist in Texas, until it does affect them. It’s just really hard to keep concentrating on the evils of the repubs when the evils in our own party keep fucking us up. Even if the bad chicken shit Dems are not Nazis, they fuck us.
And that makes them complicit.
I strongly support the Black Caucus and the progressive caucus and all the strong, brave reps who broke quorum originally. They need to know we’re behind them every step.
And the chicken shit Dems need to hear how they let Texas voters down, every damn day. They should walk in shame daily until the day they lose their primaries to Dems with cajones.
I'm confused about what happened with the Senate walkout. Hadn't the session already been called to order and a quorum determined to be present? If so, it wouldn't have mattered if Zaffirini and Hinojosa joined those who walked out.
Doesn’t matter if the gavel already dropped. Quorum isn’t a one-and-done deal, it has to be maintained. If Zaffirini and Hinojosa had left, Republicans would’ve been under 20. No quorum, no vote.
In my mind I am differentiating between those who never left vs those who might now come back. And definitely I feel the TDP should be looking for someone to primary the two in the Senate who stayed, never aligning with their fellow Dem Senators. On the other hand, we have to look at the total picture. Would they then join the Republican team totally if the win the primary or would the challenger lose to another Republican, both guaranteeing a firm Senate quorum on everything.
The TDP won’t do that, it’s part of the bylaws. It’ll be up to the people to primary them. I would say that a few of them are at risk of flipping teams.
Ok I am not familiar with all of the the by-laws. I did know if two of their own volition run they do not endorse one over the other though some clubs do.

The Black Caucus is not returning. The Progressive Caucus is not returning. I don’t know about anyone beyond that.
