Interesting rumor about re-districting the entire state now. Republicans must be worried. They know they screwed the pooch with vouchers. Of course, they never change course when confronted with voter displeasure. First, they try to bamboozle us with BS. If that doesn't work, they undertake to silence us so they work their will unimpeded.

If true that Abbott is going to try and ram through an off-year re-districting, then he has been consulting with the Republican lobby/law firm that helped Tim O'Hare redraw the Tarrant County precinct maps to save the commissioners court as R. I think they are all well-aware this boondoggle will lose in court, but they don't care. They are playing for time. They just want to have the maps in place for 2026 while the case winds its way through court. And, you never know, the Supremes could actually rule in their favor.

I am still very angry about the focused way my Republican Tarrant County commissioner looked us all in the eye at the meeting with a very hostile manner and told us how the 5th cir. was going to back their play, so we might as well get our minds right. It was my firm belief as I read the vibes of the room that his bully-boy move was going over like a lead balloon.

When Republicans are attacking in a way that seems nonsensical, it isn't. They are protecting a real vulnerability. That means politically attacking that vulnerability really hard. Maybe the national party can't seem to figure that out, but I know Texas Democrats will.

Thanks for all you do. I'm in this fight, win or lose. I'm kind of old and fat, but I can still do some things.

I hope Abbott doesn't try to pull that stunt, but it would be Tim O'Hare who gave him the idea, or the rumors were started by someone who knows what O'Hare is doing. However, I heard it from someone in Austin.

Tomorrow is the big day at Tarrant County Commissioners Court. I'm not counting on Republicans to change their minds, but hopefully we can stop them in the courts.

Which court? you guys live in staunchly conservative court systems. How are on earth are yall gonna prevent this in court?

Republicans get sued for bullshit they do all the time. The same company gerrymandered in Galveston; they were sued, and the maps were deemed unconstitutional. I don't know which courts. I imagine they go to the district, then circuit. And we're in the 5th Circuit, but they still rule against Republican crap all the time.

Mubashir Saleem's avatar

I understand but the problem is even if the district court rules and a 3 panel 5th circuit court rules against this, the republicans will just simply abuse the en banc appeal courts to have all of the republican judges in the circuit court to rule against you. They have done this so many times in the past. They abused the en banc(full slate of all judges in the circuit) to gain favorable rulings.

Michelle with all due respect this is precisely what i am talking about. At the end of the day this is the consequences of not having a party chair that was not able to build significant political presence for a decade in Texas. As much as I appreciate things have steered to a much more progressive texas it still doesnt change the fact that you are dealing with every card stacked on you. This is essentially the consequences of the complacency that Texas democrats had. and yall are paying the price sadly.

I don’t disagree with that. And it sucks. I’m an optimist, though and the only way to go is forward. And if it all crumbles? #Revolution

I am not blaming you please dont intrepret it as such. I blame the democratic establishment and gilberto hinojosa. They took all the communities in Texas for granted and thought they court moderate republicans to compensate for that.

Oh bring it Abbott. Just wait. Everyone in North Texas is so fired up right now. Keller ISD, we beat them, Mansfield City Council we took it. Well Tim Dunn is coming for Irving and I have recruited now 4 new precincts chairs and 2 more door knockers. And he might have defeated our two amazing single district candidates by lying to our voters but not this time! And if we lose because of well…oh don’t get me started it is getting worse. But even talking with the Trumpy of Trump voters, when I tell them the truth face to face they are ready to defeat this fake awful paid for by Tim Dunn candidate. And Tim Dunn is the problem with vouchers. They are going to gut our tax dollar and pocket them!

we haven't spent 20 minutes taking to people who could benefit from our policies.

I trust the rumor on the redistricting. I have no doubt that they are passing this with a guarantee that they will be in safe seats without suffering from the damage. This is the same nonsense that happened in North Carolina where a democrat defected to be a republican and she was placed into a republican leaning district to save her seat. She litrally won releection by 0.5%. There has to be a method to prevent them doing this before 2030 we cannot afford them to redistrict themselves into a supermajority. This is excactly we lost ground in so many states. A lot of the red states that are currently going through this are litrally gerrymandered into the supermajorities as they are today.

Additionally. i am sorry to say this but i truly hope that Gilberto Hinojosa truly suffers for the amount of consequences Texans democrats have to go through. I cannot express how incredible angry and annoyed i am that you all had to fucking go through such as an incompetent party chair that failed to build significant power for about a decade. I cant express how incredibly disappointing and pathetic it is that he couldn't bring himself to do the effort and simply decided to play the "blame game" on transgender people

on his lack of effort and talent. I do not tolerate incompetency as thats what Gilberto did. And thats exactly what he did, He was incompetent, untalented and more importantly useless as party chair.

Kendall may be able to reawaken a significant grassroots action that could rival Wisconsin democratic party but it will not mean much if they keep locking themselves into power. I truly hope you all can focus on the judicial races too as they also give ammunition to stop this if possible.

Kendall is visiting Lawyers who don't contribute and otherwise visits all the yellowdogs in Texas..about 50,000k

What he hasn't done so far is engage all the people that don't vote but would if TDP did something to engage them

IMHO, a part of the plan would be to commission those who are engaged already to engage those who have given up or have not supported the entire ticket of Democrats. There are plans to discover candidates in all areas of the state. What do you think Kendall should do to engage those who have faltered? Some activists did not really know him so he had to first become trusted by them before he can proceed with those who have not been active.

140 days of cruelty masquerading as governance. They didn’t legislate—they looted. They didn’t pass policy—they passed the collection plate around to their billionaire donors and handed working Texans the bill.

They call it “school choice”—but what it really is, is state-sanctioned robbery: robbing Black and brown kids of their futures to fund private Christian prep academies with Latin mottos and Confederate donors. And just like every holy crusade for oligarchy, they’ve cloaked it in God, guns, and gaslighting.

This wasn’t a legislative session—it was a ritual sacrifice of democracy to the altar of corporate supremacy. And the saddest part? Most of these men wouldn't last five minutes living under the laws they write. No voucher, no trust fund, no lobbyist on speed dial—just them, a $15-an-hour job, and the school their policies gutted.

But here’s what they forgot: the poor have memory. The dispossessed have receipts. And the voiceless are organizing choirs.

Sine Die? Nah. Just Act I.
