On your list, please include for folks to become certified Volunteer Deputy Registrars and spend some time out in the community (farmers markets, etc.) registering voters and providing information snout upcoming elections. Yesterday I registered two young people who had just never taken the time to register. We had a great conversation, and I stressed that we so NEED them! My preference is a nonpartisan approach—frankly it gets you into many more venues. Right now at the local level, the biggest issue galvanizing Texans is data centers. Democratic candidates must get in front of this and show how the Texas GOP has sold out to outsiders. Secondly it's the wall going through 1 national park and 5 state parks.
Great and very timely article. Compare and contrast the Texas Republican power consolidation to the Viktor Orban power consolidation. Also note the same techniques like gerrymandering and demonization of scapegoats.
Timely and needed information. Some of us have discovered unfortunately that political parties indeed have infiltrated local politics but in all cases I know about it is Republicans who have started the push toward partisan politics in offices that specifically say nonpartisan like city council and school board. A good bit of DFW but especially Dallas reversed that last time. Hopefully all areas have learned that we must become involved in local races or risk losing again. It has been lonely sounding the alarm on the state taking over local control and thankfully we had a former mayor who took the threat seriously. Not so sure about the one we have now, but we persist.

Yep. We just need to keep chugging along and remember Rome wasn’t built in a night.
