Zaffirini is up in 2026. We need a progressive primary challenger for her this year. When we get past the special session, Iโ€™m ready to rip her a new one and probably make a permanent enemy, but sheโ€™s been given too much leeway for too long in a safe blue seat.

We all need to support our valiant representatives breaking quorum today in Illinois. ๐Ÿ’ธ๐Ÿ’ธ๐Ÿ’ธ๐Ÿ’ธ

Where the senators were cowardly and weak, our representatives are showing their strength and courage.

True Texas grit and resolve.

Thank you Texas house Dems

Ugh. Lord mercy it hasnt been even 2026 and we have to deal with this craziness. To this day i still carry a bitter heart to how it had to take this extent where we lost everything in 2024 to fight hard like this. I just cant stand how the incompetency, the risk aversion, and this mental block that the democratic establishment has that they think they need to appeal to far right insane people to "pass legislation" these people have no intention with working with you. I am just so tired from getting so angry at times and its not even funny.

As always, masterful summarization with procedural context. Thanks again. Two comments with questions.

1. Beto mentioned in public, as you also mentioned, that if we break quorum for three called sessions (90 days), Republicans won't have time to install new maps before the March primaries. What are the chances the National Democrats would be willing to fund the fleeing legislators and also agitate the hell out of what Republicans are doing? I saw where Hakeem Jefferies and Cory Booker came to Austin. Are they serious or are they just once more performing without acting?

2. I have been following Suzanne Bellsnyder and the Texas Conservative's substacks. Besides Democrats moving left (I sure have), it appears there may be a few green shoots of Republicans like the Ex-Republican who testified.(working for Dan Patrick sure will scare you about losing democracy) Will Texas Democrats capitalize on that? Can they? It is an interesting fact that rural Republicans make up the Redistricting committee yet rural Republicans may be starting to wake up to the fact that:

a. Vouchers will kill their schools and thereby destroy their communities;

b. Austin is trying to stop (rural) cities and counties from hiring lobbyists;

c. The recent law passed that exempts corporations from local regulation has gotten Rockwall county sued by DR Horton. DR Horton objects to paying for the infrastructure to sustain what the County Judge calls a small city dropped into unincorporated Rockwall County.

Rockwall County issue is the second podcast:

1. I would say thatโ€™s a possibility, Iโ€™ve heard numbers being tossed around, but I donโ€™t think anything solid has been decided yet.

2. I follow her too. Democrats should capitalize on that for sure. Iโ€™m not exactly sure whose attention to bring that to, but let me mull it over for a bit.

This isnโ€™t redistricting. Itโ€™s resegregation with a digital pen.

Stacking the committee with rural reps in an 84% urban state isnโ€™t subtle. Itโ€™s a message. And the message is this: your voices, your neighborhoods, your future donโ€™t matter โ€” unless they vote the right way.

But hereโ€™s the thing. People are watching. And theyโ€™re not just watching, theyโ€™re boiling. You canโ€™t rig the maps and call it democracy. You canโ€™t shove people into silence and then pretend their anger is the problem. And you sure as hell canโ€™t govern a state by ghosting its cities.

Iโ€™m proud of every single person who showed up to testify, knowing it might fall on deaf ears. Because it doesnโ€™t end there. You gave voice to a record. You spoke truth into a system thatโ€™s terrified of it.

And if those in power wonโ€™t hear the people? The people will find another way to be heard.

Stay loud. Stay ungovernable.

hopefully trump hasn't outlawed math:

FTW has what 60-90 days a year ozone warnings

The Trump administration said on Tuesday it will rescind the long-standing finding that greenhouse gas emissions endanger human health, removing the legal foundation for all U.S. greenhouse gas regulations.

so zero curtailment CO2

now combine that with not one post from anyone at TCDP to Goldman MAGA CD0-12 so he thinks all of Texas is for befouling our own air

I too must assume FTW people don't give a shit about air quality

i think its called the transitive property

or is it a number they pulled out of their ass..

the whole conceit is somewhat preposterous

are u sure.....

a note to Allison Campolo from Abraham Lincoln: " you cannot escape the responsibility of tommorrow by evading it today. "

i wake up every morning hoping someone says something somewhere about something...if only to post it on the webpage

but no..................nothing.....no SM, no letter to the editor, no town hall being organized, no candidate for CD-12..........nothing that u would expect the leader of 350,000 Democrats to do...

just a line in Goldman's FB by one of the 26 members or the CEC or the 200 odd pct chairs chastising MAGA for comforting Maxwell would revive hope.

what;s the diff u ask.....well Dems hold NO county wide offices, none...thanks in part or whole of totally crap County Chairs going back a decade or more. The current Chair was chair before and quit.....for reasons unknown,,,,and we here in TC decided in our infinite wisdom to rehire her.......were upon she got busy doing...nothing....just like in her 1st term, Sure Allison if we dominated TC you could coast, no one would care...but we are losing , big time, losses that came from ur 1st term and Gayden's disastrous adminsitration......remember how she shut down the office cause she broke the bank........so u cannot coast....quit the opposite...

I personally think Allison's plan is to let Indivisiblle and Beto do all the work and jump on the band wagon whenever she can.

so yeah MD....i am pretty sur no one in TC is much outraged....i think they learned to look away years ago.

Expand full comment
tim koss's avatar

to tell u how incestuous it is, Alison Campolo quit mid-term...and in their collective wisdom the CEC gave the job to a lawyer....lawyers are not people people nor are they any good at sales and marketing,...Crystal proved that adage true and smartly quit herself...

we asked Crystal, your leaving, okay, give us time to find a really good Chair candidate....no can do....they rushed in an election without searching for a completely new chair and instead just gave it back to Allison.....who had quit once already.....or as i like to call her...a quitter...

in special election for Chair , voters don't vote, the CEC and whatever few pct chairs care to , vote........now ask urself if its between a name they know, with a reco by someone they already voted for, what do u imagine they would do......no one in Christendom knew there was an opening BTW so anyone qualified would have known to apply..,,,,,you had to be in the know, and known,,,,if u see what i mean.

so there u have it, a quitter got re-installed because another quitter quit, in an opague process....very far removed from a democratic election and unbefitting and important player in state and national elections(or used to be)

so if we are the swingest county in the country, according to Allison, the Republic is surely lost.

"By now, you're likely familiar with Tarrant County's very own radical democrat and Muslim State Representative, Salman Bhojani. But do you really know him? Salman Bhojani isn't who he says he is, and he isn't fit to legislate on our behalf. In reality, he is the Zohran Mamdani of Tarrant County."

It is going to cost over a million dollars if they have break quorum for 1 session but we know Abbott will keep calling it (he did this 4 times for vouchers, yes we won in 2022 but then lost this year) he is just going to keep doing it. So I say, letโ€™s make as much noise as week can and then take the money and apply it to fund candidates in every single race. We need infrastructure. We need money to fund candidates in deep red counties. But honestly CD 33 is still democratic as well as CD 30. Yes CD 32 is red but still winnable and both CD 6 and CD 24 are now flippable. So we start working hard and knocking on doors now, recruit and talk to our neighbors. Just like I am doing right now. Believe me, I will have him voting for democrats by 2026. The economy is tanking and things in the local levels are getting worse. He knows I am not a Democrat who has 5 heads. He know we agree on almost everything. This is why making community is important. But that is just me, yes we need to fight but I would rather start taking that energy to build infrastructure. We have to votes we just need to people to believe they have the power.
