Take a look at Land Commissioner candidate Benjamin Flores’s plan to invite and perhaps incentivize clean energy producers - like solar, wind and hydrothermal - to join the existing oil and gas producers operating on leased state land because it will fast-track much needed additional megawatts onto the grid. That this will also increase the General Land Office revenue and, in turn, increase money going into the state’s Permanent School Fund which can take pressure of school districts to raise property taxes, is an added plus. Learn more about Flores’s plan at www.letsgowithben.com/glo2030.

I really like this.

Have you studied the use of the Permanent School Fund?

Yes. But please share your insights.

Planning to send this to everyone I can. Water itself has been an important issue for me for a long time. And no one who experienced the storm in 2021 can trust anything ERCOT says imho. Thanks for listening to this meeting. I should add this committee to my notifications list!

Corpus will be out of water in a few months. ERCOT is still studying/guessing about the impact of the data centers on our electric grid. Republican lawmakers are as impulsive as trump. JUST SAY NO to approving data centers until you guys have more information and assurances that Texas can support these utility-suckers. If data centers are later allowed to apply, the state should charge an exorbitant nonrefundable deposit and SHOULD NOT give these companies tax breaks. But alas....this is Texas....the big guys always finish first.

This is a terrifying article. Especially because Corpus Christi is there already. 😢

Maybe the new data centers can buy water from Corpus Christi? Maybe they can generate their own electricity, with strict control of emissions? Why would they expect a free ride for H2O and power, funded by the population? And have they contributed to Abbott, Patrick etc? Let them build on platforms in the Gulf and harness the tide for power and run desalination for water. Yes, I understand the data centers will assist decision-making that will affect my daily life, and I understand that I cannot be trusted to make these decisions on my own, but I can’t afford their unwanted assistance. Go play in someone else’s backyard.

This is a topic that our candidates should be talking about every day!

"If we let all these data centers plug in, are regular people going to get screwed when things go bad?" Hahahahah....jeez Michelle, I haven't laughed this hard in years?

I expect everything going on with the data center pile-on in Texas to be truly bigger than anywhere else in the country. I really wonder what will happen when the other big corporate players in Texas get screwed with their power needs as the data center suck all new power generation resources. The people of course will be left holding the bag no matter what happens.

Everyone is feeling good about November. It’s still my hope we can stop it. I’ll be optimistic forever.

I maintain that the endless greed of the plutocrats will eventually backfire on them. Breaking average people financially will break the plutos politically. It just hasn't happened yet but it will.
