I'm getting geared up as a new precinct chair. I intend to be ready when the time comes to get Van Duyne out. I live in her district. She takes orders from MAGA.
It sounds like he made a hasty decision at the last minute, then was educated about the context of Alisa running. Not to mention the fact that she is extremely competent and has an existing base of support. This Tim O’Hare battle started a long time ago.
Marc Veasy is the current Dem Rep for CD 33 and yes he just dropped out of Commission Judge for Tarrant. Julie Johnson is the former state Rep of HD 115, who ran for CD 32, when Collin Allred ran for Senate against Ted Cruz last year. So Julie is the current Dem Rep for CD 32, but she has filed for CD 33 and now Collin has dropped out of the this year’s senate race against Cornyn (more likely Paxton) and is also running in CD 33. The new CD 33 is a Latina District. Only 8 precincts of Julie’s old 115 district is in it, and it is heavily AAPI, and high Muslim population (though most of the Irving Muslim population got shoved into CD 24 and CD 6, with horrible republican reps. And I don’t think any of the 3 dems can beat Beth. Sorry, but I know all three of them and they are meh. I mean TJ can probably stand up to her but he isn’t really a Dem. And the last thing we need is another Republican in Dem clothing. I would have bet on either Julie or Colin in 24 but it is far from a safe seat, which they are both fighting over. So now we know with Veasy dropping out, we losing another good rep. I know you don’t like either but both Colin in 32 and Julie when she was in 115 were well loved by their constituents.
32, 33, 32, 33. It's all very convoluted. I'm aware of her previous record. I'm also ideologically consistent, and maybe have fewer readers in that district.
Yeah, some of her votes have been problematic but she was well loved in 115 (I was initially in that district then got gerrymandered into both 6 and 105 in 2021, if you want to know why I am so mad… well there you go. I knew Julie well and she always took my calls). She understood what Las Colinas, Coppell and Farmers Branch are like, we are democratic but fairly conservative and while my family is very progressive Christian, lots of families in 115 are pretty religiously conservative (Hindi, Muslim, and black churches, who all vote Democratic). So the fact the district elected an openly gay woman is pretty impressive. But that is because Julie knew what mattered to her voters and always listened to them. And Julie came to our aid in last year’s city council election, doing a Robo call to Democratic voters for David Pfaff. Dr. Elba Garcia knew what was going on, and it was all hands on deck. And that is all I am going to say on that.
That all makes sense, and I don’t doubt her local impact or why people trusted her. My lane is looking at votes and policy over time, not personal accessibility or campaign relationships. Those things don’t always line up, and I understand that makes these conversations hard but necessary.
If a US House candidate should focus on property taxes, what are some improvements they can make? Because this seems more like a state, county, and city issue. Federal level things I can think of are saving the Department of Education and their school funding, ways to make it easier to build affordable housing, and maybe lowering interest rates. Is there something else that congressional candidates should be running on regarding property taxes? Thanks.

She's awful. Let's get rid of her next November!
FYI - Veasey just dropped out.

I know, I just saw that right after I published this. I was like, "whew."
