My mom lives in TX-03. The incumbent Keith Self put up a bunch of billboards in the exurban areas of his district like Hunt County. These billboards list his office phone number and lists all the things his office can help with. This shows how much Self is worried. Also, I saw quite a few Hunt yard signs and nothing for Keith Self. There is an enormous amount of hostility toward planned data centers in the area and Self has been on the wrong side of that issue. It would be a surprise if Hunt won still, but not a shock.
Self's staff actually do a good job with constituent services. They helped me get my Social Security widow's benefit after the DOGE boys decimated the Social Security staff. But this is about the only good thing Self does. The Lege knew that if they left CD-3 mostly in Collin County, Self would likely lose. So they removed a lot of Collin County (I'm in western McKinney and almost got drawn out) and extended the district almost to Louisiana. Self is just an execreble human being (co-founder of the House anti-Shariah caucus). Evan Hunt is a tireless campaigner; he's not super progressive, but he won me over with his vocal opposition to the Iran War. Self never even mentions the war!
I am really glad you use the term “pool boy“ for Toth. That guy having any sort of access to the levers of power just drives me crazy. He is seriously the village idiot. And that’s insulting idiots.
You didn't mention TX-32. I guess Dan Barrios hasn't raised much money? He really seems to be traversing a lot of the district. I appreciate his guts and his message, and he has done a great job on the Richardson City Council, but I don't really understand the newly drawn district enough to know if he has a real shot at winning or not.
The big problem with Leticia is that she doesn’t have the fundraising chops. She seriously needs help with that, plus she comes across very quiet, almost mousey. But neither do I, so 🤷🏻♂️.
