The good thing is Congress people run for re-election every two years and we can use that as leverage, especially in the first few years after they are elected. In conjunction with setting up Medicare for All, it is necessary for Congress to figure out how to upgrade the rickety COBOL structure.
I count not signing this as a betrayal of trust. Having lived in countries with the right to healthcare, I will guarantee it will cost less and aid more people than any other law they can offer.
There’s enough research and data to back it up at this point; any allegiance to the for-profit system can only stem from ignorance or greed. We already know the case with Republicans.
I constantly get asked if I’m running against Cuellar again in 2028.
Going up against a heavily funded establishment machine on a shoestring budget was an uphill battle. We were written off early on, but we made a massive impact anyway. The numbers out of Hidalgo County are the undeniable proof: with the right momentum, Cuellar can be defeated.
But I'm a realist. Doing the exact same thing without changing the equation won't get us a different result. For 2028 to be viable, we need a new approach and serious backing.
I am absolutely open to having conversations about the future. If anyone is interested in stepping up, building a stronger coalition, and putting up a real fight, let’s grab a coffee and talk strategy.
