Will The Real Chip Roy Please Stand Up, Please Stand Up
The grift, the lies, and the man who can't two-step.
Note: Last Halloween, I wrote a ghost story. I had another prepared for this year, but nothing I could tell you will be as scary as this: Beginning tomorrow, Republicans plan to starve children in America.
Today was the last day to early vote!
I went yesterday and was literally in and out in five minutes. If you didn’t make it to an early voting location, make sure you vote on Tuesday! It’ll be your last chance to stick it to Republicans for months.
Congressman Roy’s new ad had me in stitches.
Y’all, at least three to four times an election season, there are Republican ads that make me laugh. And Chip Roy’s latest ad for his AG run had me spitting out my drink, because actually, who is this man?
The Republican grift strikes as Chip Roy is all of a sudden a lawman and a hardass, for the cameras, of course. But you know, for the Republican voters who only see ads and aren’t really tuned into daily politics, it probably is enough to fool them. But for someone who has been Chip Roy’s personal arch nemesis for many years, WOO, I have a bunch of things I need to call out!
First, the ad:
LIE # 1: Chip Roy comes from a long line of lawmen. Who are these so-called lawmen that he’s never mentioned in his career before? Now, I’m sure I’ve heard Roy talking about his peanut farmer-grandfather in Virginia before. Oddly, the internet seems to be scrubbed of previous mentions. Another thing, I was looking back on old TikToks (on my account), and the ones with Chip Roy are all muted. I don’t remember getting notifications for those, not to say it’s nefarious, I barely look at my notifications sometimes, but it looks like someone was paid to scrub the internet for Congressman Roy. Wikipedia cites his great-grandfather as a janitor, which is perfectly respectable, but not a cop.
LIE #2: It’s really the whole ambience that they tried to paint around Roy as a rugged, tough-as-leather, John-Wayne-style cowboy. The gun-toting, boots-on-the-ground patriot who spits grit and rides into town to save the day. HA!
Here is Chip Roy crying TEARS that billionaires can’t earn more money. And not just any billionaires, big pharma billionaires:
Only candy-assed fascists would cry over billionaire profits while poor people in this country die without access to healthcare. Definitely, not an “alpha male.”
LIE #3: At the end of the ad, Roy labeled himself a “Pro-Trump Conservative.”
Here is Chip Roy calling MAGA “fuckers” and telling them to “stick it:”
LIE #4: “Chip Roy will put Texas first.” Chip Roy was born in Maryland, grew up in Virginia, and moved to Texas at the ripe old age of 30. He was probably mostly in Texas after that, until he was elected in 2019. While Chip Roy has a home in Austin, he spends most of the year in Washington, DC, where his kids go to school. He comes down to Texas here and there for events and to make sure to be seen, but for the most part, Chip Roy isn’t Texas at all. He probably couldn’t even two-step without counting out loud.
Yeah, when I saw his ad, I cracked up laughing, because it’s not him. Why can’t Republicans be true to themselves? Does everything have to be based on lies and fear?
One thing Chip Roy was being honest about.
He was being honest when he was race-baiting. You know, he does a lot of that.
The Republican spies will say, “He wasn’t race-baiting.” But when he claimed, “I’ll help President Trump take on the cartel and secure our border,” he was doing just that. He was talking about the same image of an “invading horde” Republicans have been selling since Goldwater.
It’s all a performance of dog-whistles, just like the time he referenced lynching during an anti-Asian violence congressional hearing:
And Chip Roy was the only Texas Republican to vote against making Juneteenth a national holiday. But that’s just one of the things that happens when these non-Texan Republicans move down here for a political grift and fail to learn or understand Texas history. Be thankful to the transplants who actually care (Chip Roy ain’t one of them).
Of course, he’s also fought to remove teachings of Black history, under the guise as “anti-Critical Race Theory.”
Another funny thing Chip Roy has done for this campaign, is talk an extra amount about Christianity and Jesus.
As someone who has listened to Roy’s rhetoric way too many times and seen way too many of his speeches in the last six years, his talking points have moved increasingly right. He now refers to Democrats as, “Marxists, Radicals, and Islamists ,” (lol, wut?) and I’ve heard him reference his “Christian religion” more than five times in the last three months.
He’s taken this far right-turn to compete with another Republican Attorney General candidate, Mayes Middleton.
Middleton, is this uber-wealthy oil barron, who believes God appointed him to destroy all the poors and save enrich the one percent. Recently, Middleton was caught on video at a campaign speech where he celebrates being “called a racist.”
There’s a huge difference between Middleton and Roy, though.
Middleton’s family enriched themselves through slavery and land grants in the 1800s, then later oil in the early 1900s, and that wealth has been passed down for generations ($500+ million). Middleton is sheltered, brain-warped, and out-of-touch enough to believe God tells him to harm the poors. Chip Roy is just running one big grift.
Whatever happens in the Republican primary, my bet is it comes down to a runoff between these two. We’ll absolutely revisist again, with five months until the primary, there are sure to be a lot of things to laugh at and be horrified over.
And while Republicans are busy playing pretend, here’s something real you should know:
Banks are short on cash.
The big banks went crawling to the Federal Reserve for cash. Repeatedly. Just today, they’ve handed the Fed $20 billion worth of mortgage-backed securities, the same kind of junk that helped crash the economy in 2008, and another $29 billion in US Treasuries to get enough dollars to make it through the day. That’s $105 billion in emergency overnight loans since October 15, right around the time government workers started missing paychecks due to furloughs.

So when they tell you “the economy is strong,” understand what that means.
It’s strong in the same way a car is strong when it’s being held together with duct tape and prayer.
Tuesday isn’t just another election day.
It’s the only tool we have in this moment to stop the people who are actively harming our communities while stealing everything they can carry. They have money and megaphones. We have us.
Show up. Vote. Remind them who actually lives here.

Chip Roy is a cancer survivor who had his medical treatment paid by insurance that's completely funded by taxpayers. But he opposes the ACA as well as any extension of subsidies that could end the shutdown. He's one of the worst hypocritical lying demagogues but also a follower of Jesus.
I agree! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 that a Democratic Party Candidate wins! Let’s all work together to Get Out The Vote!
