I had heard about the threat that if Hinojosa wasn't made chairman of the party, Democrats would lose south Texas. We are already losing south Texas, thanks to Republican mis and disinformation and lies about Democrats. In the run up to the Governor's race, as a newbie to politics, I wanted to get the vote out in my precinct. I contacted my chair several times, without success. She just never really answered me. So I googled some groups in Austin who could help me, and Blue Action Dems had a REACH training. I got trained, loaded on my phone, went to League of Women Voters to get some lit, and walked a small portion of my precinct. By this time, its 3 days before the election. It shouldn't be that hard. We're supposed to be a team. What we did in 2022 did not work, and I don't see anyone stepping up to do something different to win in 2024. So I'm back to the drawing board to figure out how to do something.
And that's the thing. Almost all of the voter education, out reach, and initiatives is happening sporadically throughout the state by various grassroots organizations. The TDP should be at the helm, but are often nowhere to be found. We want to flip the state, but more important, we have to do something to protect ourselves from the things the GOP is doing right now.
I do believe, though we've lost a lot of battles, we may ultimately win the war. We just need the right leadership to get us there.
My Chair is AWOL ....in fact after her request to 'volunteer' and contacting party HQ to do so, i heard nothing......so i made the same offer to Crystal Gayden County Chair at her law office....the offer was i would set up and fund HC info tables at several malls in FTW during run up to open enrollment They would offer info for the thousands who have no clue what HC options are available for them...we would brand it. "HC got u down, Tarrant Dems got ur back"
IOW we go out in a very public space and take ownership of what it rightly ours..Health Care
Crystal Gayden addressed my offer by demanding i never contact her law office again.....She is grossly out of touch with her constiuents...Here in Tarrrant County she is our only countywide elected Democrat and never speaks to the press or her constituents IOW we have no idea what she is doing. There is not one word from her in any editoral even as Tarrant R's get a lot of ink in news and opion pieces. Lots of ink....nearly every week on every important issue........As Michelle profiled its open seasnon on LBGQT in Tarrant County with the County Judge getting a big write up on our major paper......There was not one word of rebuttal anywhere from Tarrant D's. Tarrant D's and unTrumper's rightly assume there is not D party in Tarrant County . I know, i ask....
BTW Gayden 'selected' by the EC in special election. They take no repsonsibility for Crystal Gayden igoring Tarrant voters....
to the OP......just so u don't think ur nuts......the Chair should return every phone call or email....they have no idea what might be the net result of that discussion. In most counties they don't get 2 phone calls a month from constiuents. You know what the net result of my Chair's insult to me is?,,,,,,,i won't give TCDP a dime....that's a $5000 insult in 2023 and another $5000 insult in 2024. That $10,000 worth of arrogance by Crystal Gayden.....and i must assume i am not the only constiuent being slighted.
